Well. well. the Justice Department is dropping the case against Ted Stevens now that they've succeeeded in driving him from office. That is a rather naked admission of their intentions in the case.
I have another suggestion for our dear friends in the Injustice Department. How about checking to see if Barack Obama failed to pay taxes, as Stevens was accused of doing, when he accepted a enhancement to his property from a political donor (and dual resident of the US and SYRIA), namely a strip of land sold at a bargain price from the wife of Tony Rezko.
Certainly, there was a clear and measurable increase in Obama's preoperty value with this "gift", just like Ted Stevens' gifts from contractors.
Certainly this "gift" had tax consequences, just as Ted Stevens' gifts did? I'm sure the annoited one would never fail to give the government what it is entitled to. After all, Obama has already admitted that the whole deal was a "bone-headed mistake".
Is there such a thing as equal treatment under the law?

Why would he? Liberals only need your stinking tax money; how else are they going to socialize this nation?! They need their money for themselves and for their families.
He bought a portion of the lot at a bargain price from Rezko, the remaining lot segment will never be built upon as I understand it, so he effectively got the benefit of the whole lot.

Why ask the obvious question. Ethics is not part of the current administration’s DNA. Paying taxes that are due and on time is part of that ethics. They believe in cheating the tax man when he comes asking for his share while believing it is good to legislate more taxes for everybody else. Rules set up by Dims are made to be broken by Dims until caught.
These bums need to get tossed out of office and treated like the tax cheats, liars and criminals that they are.

I concur. Can someone explain this? Obama benefits from this corrupt transaction even if he NEVER sold the house. That is, he enjoys a degree of privacy and seclusion that he would not have without Rezko making this possible. Indeed, it is precisely this same benefit that would motivate a buyer to pay a higher price for the property knowing that the remaining Rezco parcel was too small to build on etc.
If I win a contest that entitles me to a new house, don’t I have to pay taxes NOW on the market value of that house rather waiting until I sell it (which could be never) and receive actual dollars for it?
