We argue quite a bit on these pages about thrd party stuff. Gingrich, I'm sure is voicing what he is actually hearing and sensing.

Those who are diehard Republican and want to preserve the GOP will have to do more than chat and post to FR and other such sites. They are going to have to ivolve themselves in extensive letter-writing, door-knocking, and organizing to bring the Party back to its roots.

I, for one among many, believe that the upper crust of the GOP needs a scare. They need to be forced to feel that they and the whole party can be replaced.

The RINO’s can just call themselves ‘LibDem’....as in the UK.

Under the current rules, and with the current personalities, the GOP is just as likely to nominate another RINO in 2012.

The RINO element hasn’t had the good grace to step aside since the 08 debacle. The open primaries and likely liberal interlopers in the selection process will really tilt the 12 convention to the “moderates”, maybe McCain will be renominated.

Unless the Republicans change the rules, score decisive victories especially in the 2008 primaries against McCain and Specter, Gingrich may be prophetic here.

A Conservative third party would never win the presidency, and practically guarantee the Democrats wining every time by splitting the center right vote between the GOP candidate and the Third Party candidate.

Now a third party that focused on only wining seats in the house and senate would be far more effective. Say a well funded and non fringe conservative third party were to develop and take say 100 House Seats and 9-10 senate seats. This would give a third party a tremendous amount of power as the two major parties would need the third party votes in order to pass legislation. The third party could leverage this to demand a conservative direction in legislation, especially in the house.

But this party would have to be well financed (at least $250 million in revenue), and have to be able to attract exceptional talent. No third party has ever came close to accomplishing this.

I'm all for a third Party.
Choosing between Democrat or Republican is no choice at all.
I want term limits for all representatives of the PEOPLE in both Houses. That includes the existing term limits for the president. Which I understand that the Democratic Party lead Congress is seeking to change.
I say ride all those in D.C. supposedly representing the PEOPLE of this nation out of D.C. on a rail after we tar and feather them.

The ‘Upper Crust’ - like the ‘lower’; is living it’s scare. That said; a ‘third Party’ would be the end of ‘all good men’. NO Way; IMHO; can this serve Republicans or any of America’s ‘good citizens’.

In this day and time we need as a whole to distance ourselves from the GOP and come up and out with a truly conservative party. The problem with the GOP is you have the main street and the wall street branches of the same party. Ronny R. was a main street and G. Bush was a wall street republican. This nation need to be returned to it right full owners and that is the public not wall street not special interest, but the every day person and the only way that your going to get that is to take the power of the purse out of the hands of a select few and back into the hands of the many. No more Omnibus bills out law them debate every thing in the budget bring it out into the open let the public see what is going on and we will quickly see who is for the people and who are for the select few of wall street and special interests.

In not too many years there will be two parties - the Democrats, and their spinoff, the Partidad de la Raza.

Republicans will be a mere historical footnote, contributors to their own demise.

After amnesty and a new wave of millions of Latino immigrants (no longer illegal) there will come a point when the Hispanic demographic reaches 51%. At that time they will find they no longer need the Democrat party, they can run the country all by themselves. The irony is that first the Republicans, with their RINO pandering to Hispanics, and then the Democrats will have brought about their own downfall.

Of course the America that then results will be more like Argentina, no longer a world power and tottering between a socialist democracy and a military junta as the Latino culture prevails.

Nations die from within. You are seeing it happen here.

An excellent idea. What would be nice would be for the “Blue Dogs” to leave the Democrats and form their own party. We would have 4 “major” parties: Democrats (Socialists & Communists), Republicans (what remains without the Conservatives), Conservatives (us) and Moderates (Blue Dogs). That would make for some very interesting elections.

Well then we lose in 2012 and forward. Look at this race in NY20, 10,000 votes for a third party candidate. Look at MN.. third party candidate, look at GA, third party candidate... look at Ross Perot! third party candidate! I thought Newt was smarter than this.

The problem with the GOP is not the rank and file Republican, nor is it basic Republican Philosophy.

The problem with the GOP is the entitled elitist liberal moneyed RINOs like Chrissie Whitman of “Its my Party Too” infamy. They are basically liberal social Democrats and only support the Republicans as they view the Democrats as too radical - threats to their often inherited, not earned, wealth.

They want a Republican Party which will not rock the social boat or push culture war buttons. They want a Republican Party which will merely protect their personal affluence. In order to do so, they are willing to jettison ANY social issues which arein the least bit controversial.

Their vast wealth and connections make it very difficult to oppose these people within the framework of the Republican Party. It is as though they are alien parasitic hosts which have taken over a vulnerable body.

Gingrich is right on the mark here. Unless the GOP dumps the Steeles, the Martinezes, the Grahams, the Spectors, etc., it is finished.

Conservatism is screwed, no matter which option is seriously tried! If the conservatives truly leave the GOP, then leftists win most political offices by even larger numbers than before, because when the choices are: Democrats, “A Non-Conservative” GOP, and Conservatives, the non-conservatives have a 2-to-1 political advantage over conservatives! If the conservatives decide to continue to stay in the GOP, then all of the non-conservatives in the GOP will still, more often than not, continue to not practice conservatism and greatly dilute the conservative wing of the GOP! There’s no easy, short-term way out of this, at least for the next several years! There will still be pockets of conservatism that do well in parts of the U.S., but, at the same time, everything that leftists throughout the entire U.S. are still doing to gain even more power for the long-term is also successfully being put into place. Leftists worldwide are successfully continuing to: “dumb down” the general public on all of the issues, while also continuing with their political bias in the worldwide MSM and political bias in the worldwide entertainment industry; and practice political indoctrination in schools at every level worldwide. All of this is a ongoing worldwide problem, and not just a U.S. problem! Until conservatives, at the worldwide level, can seriously and successfully come together to the point where a majority of worldwide conservatives really are on the same, exact pages about what to do to successfully become a political majority throughout the entire world, worldwide leftist politics will remain a dominant political force for awhile, if not forever!
