HotlLead, I think you’re absolutely right. Obama’s “tax cut” was not just a campaign scam but it’s a fiscal IMPOSSIBILITY! Heritage recently announced that Obama’s budget creates $9.6 trillion in NEW debt; it will raise taxes by $1.4 trillion and creates a record $63,000 in debt per household. This isn’t a debatable or partisan point. Even Obama’s spin can’t disguise the fact that math doesn’t lie and that two plus two still equal four.
Yep, good information. I would think that everyone on Free Republic should be concerned about that information. It appears that we’ve also got some of these “misinformation operatives” posting on Free Republic, trying to “fool” the readership, into *not protecting* the Internet (which provides our access here).... LOL...

Thanks for the reference. We conservatives have certain legitimate differences regarding the specifics and particulars of our agenda. However, it does appear that some trolls are subtly trying to disrupt our dialogue with disinformation and the thiny-veiled talking points of liberalism. Fortunately, such are usually easily detected and ignored.
You’re not “protecting” the internet by buying into net “neutrality” any more than you’d protect speech by buying into their “fairness” doctrine.
The fact of the matter is that as it stands, the internet operates freely and works. Down the road there will be continued innovation, and you can choose which new services to use or keep using it as you do now.
Net “neutrality” outlaws the ability to provide specific services to people who want them, and worse than that puts decision making (and the accompanying favoritism and control) in the hands of government.
Is it really that difficult to see? The Orwellian language, the pending “crisis”, the need for “protection”, government as the answer to the “problem”, describing data in class warfare terms, and the fact that every socialist and statist loves it should be indicators.
Cable TV and landline phones are the result of government command and control of infrastructure. The internet is the shining exception of what decentralized free design produces. Don’t send it down the path of mediocre lowest common denominator (at best) and censorship (more likely):

I’ll be working for maintaining the current open and neutral usage of the Internet as it has been and as it stands today.

I know that there are a number of FReepers who would want the government to *do nothing* regarding the Internet. However, the doing of nothing is really allowing others (and that’s in the private sector) to “hijack” the entire thing and make us little “piggy banks” for them all, and actually *control* the very information that we access so freely now. So, not all “regulation” is something bad, especially if it prevents someone else from taking away what you have *right now*...
Anyway, that’s the way I see it with the Internet...

Well, the point of the whole thing is to keep the Internet going without the equivalent of “toll roads” for special service, relegating all other services to the “dirt roads” and therefore, into “oblivion” — while the newer “Internet 2” is implemented. And believe me, the new “Internet 2” is *very controlling* and you will be tracked in everything you do, by someone else, and you will be identified, exactly (as to who you are, not simply an IP number and a computer “MAC” number). It will all go into a database and everything you say and do can be “called up” at any time they want, for anything in the future.
That’s why I don’t want to see the “Internet” replaced with “Internet 2” — and that’s what is being done (i.e., “in the process” right now)...
It’s really already happening. And I’m not talking just about what this one guy says. I have been reading about “Internet 2” since before the year 2000...
That’s why I say that the current Internet needs to be *mandated* as “Net Neutral” for all services, no matter what, and preserved for the future, no matter and “even when” the “Internet 2” goes into full swing in the near future.
Such lack of privacy has been standard SOP
regarding ALL electronic/electrical communications since at least 1970.
AT LEAST 1970.
Privacy and The Constitution have been long shredded by the globalists.
I certainly would prefer the least amount of censorship possible.
Trouble is,
Scripture is, to me, clear . . . the globalists will be in power for around 7 years overtly plus all the control they’ve had leading up to the 7 years of Tribulation.
They will have unprecedented control over the lives of individuals around the world.
It will be horrific.
I’m all for hindering and slowing such down by prayer and honorable actions otherwise.
But I think we need to be wise about our use of energy and resources and avoid futile wastes that accomplish little or nothing for good.
Oh..., I know that privacy has been encroached upon over the years, but there is a lot more that can be done. So, for me..., just because they’ve made it this far, doesn’t mean that I’m going to say — “go further” ... LOL...
Of course.
Just be wise about avoiding unnecessary and counter-productive futility.
