Prague - U.S. President Barack Obama, who attended the EU-U.S. summit in Prague today, gave a bust of a former U.S. president to his Czech counterpart Vaclav Klaus, and he received a book on Prague Castle, the presidential seat, from Klaus.
The Presidential Office did not specify which president the bust depicted.
The Czech and U.S. first ladies also brought presents to one another.
Livia Klausova gave traditional Czech glass to Michelle Obama, and she got "a beautiful little American vase" that she will display in the Lany chateau, the presidential summer residence, Klausova said.
Moreover, the Obamas received presents from Czech PM Mirek Topolanek who chaired the summit this afternoon.
A Czech-made Prim watch will now remind Obama of his public address in Prague, and Michelle Obama can decorate her outfits with a brooch with Czech garnets from Prague.
Obama and his wife Michelle arrived in Prague from the NATO summit in Strasbourg on Saturday evening, a couple hours later than expected. This is why they did not take a stroll in Prague streets and probably did not dine in a selected restaurant in the historical centre.
The highlight of Obama's stay was his speech outside Prague Castle this morning, in which he called for the world without nuclear weapons.
While Obama became the main star at the EU-U.S. summit, his wife visited historical sights at Prague Castle and in the Jewish Town today.
They say it’s a bust, so it has to be Carter.
lol.....karma.
The bust of which president? Easy. It’ll be the one that’s missing from the White House!
The article stated former president........wait a minute.....that would work out nicely...wouldn't it?
LOL
Thats just what I was thinking.
So that's why that store pulled them from their shelves. They wanted to preserve the exclusivity of the gift. I wonder why they didn't mention which president it was? Perhaps no one on Team Obama knows?
(I apparently over-read the “former” part. Or maybe wishful thinking...)
Surprised Il Douche didn’t give him a CD...
I assume that President Klaus ran right over to the U.S. embassy and returned the bust today. That is now protocol for the giving (and returning ) of busts as established by....the One.
My money is on the Bust of the Only BUST WE have had for a Fraud of a President, a paper mache Bust of His Royal Hihny Himself, TOTUS ZERO HUSSEIN!
If he had kept the bust of Churchill, he could have just regifted that to Klaus!
Former President FDR who helped carve up Eastern Europe at Yalta, too unspeakably evil to comment.
Does the WH trash realize that gifts over $100 can’t be kept? The bust of a former prez? Who? Lincoln or Roosevelt?
My first reaction was, did he even know WHO the bust was of...?
My next thought was, I bet it was an Obama Chia head....
Sad we’ve descended to such worthless public discourse, huh?
I agree, the Czechs might not want to publicize that they got an FDR bust.
Couldn't be.
Do you truly believe that obama would part with a teleprompter?
