Dems block military vote in New York special election
Openmarket.org ^ | 4/5/2009 | Hans Bader

The outcome of a special Congressional election in New York’s 20th Congressional District will likely turn on the illegal exclusion of up to 1,000 overseas military ballots, which otherwise would have tipped the race in favor of James Tedisco (R). Tedisco and Scott Murphy (D) are in a dead heat, with 77,225 votes each.

Democrats on the state elections board blocked GOP attempts to allow overseas military voting in the special election. Overseas ballots take weeks to reach voters and be returned unless special measures are taken to speed things up. But the elections officials refused to do anything to speed things up, or mail the ballots out early enough. The result is that perhaps 90 percent of the ballots will be tossed in the trash without ever being counted. (Military ballots are cast mostly for Republican candidates).

5995 absentee ballots.
48% GOP = 2878

36% GOP = 2158

16% Ind = 959

IF the GOP and Dem voters vote party line, then Murphy would need to make up a 720 vote deficit in the absentee ballots.

Murphy would then need 75% of the 959 Ind. ballots just to catch up with Murphy. That would be 720 votes.

Just put some more time into this, and, well -— I think Murphy needs 840 of the Ind. absentee votes.

840/959 = 88%!!!

Yes, some of the GOP absentees went to Murphy.

Yes, some of the Dem absentees went to Tedisco.

Those will tend to cancel each other out, IMHO.

Also, Tedisco LEAD in the polls until recently. This would tend to make the EARLY VOTERS more R than D, would it not?

I guess the Democrats feel you can die for your country, but cannot vote.

On the other hand, how many ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS voted in this election?

No surprises here. If this was the nation it used to be, the Repubs would appeal to the Federal Court, and the judge would summarily vacate the boards decision, based on the fact that they are ignoring the rules that they and the Legislature agreed upon.

Of course, this nation is NOT the way it used to be, and the DEMS will go to any length to maintain and increase their power. You think this is a travesty? Just wait til 2010 — or after the Census is used to gerrymander [re: RIG] the 2012 Presidential race.

Hmmm

(If I) had just returned from a war zone, all pumped up with patriotism and personal success (I'm alive), with the memory(s) of war and (perhaps) carnage ... and my psyche is THEN assaulted with my vote wasn't/didn't count?

It would take one hell of a debriefing to keep me from a specop.

Just sayin' ... in my heart .. I might be just a little bit savage.

The only time the Lib/Dems like the military is when they can hold them up as victims to forward an agenda.

It is estimated that a minimum of 45 days is needed for the overseas military to get their ballots and return them. In 9 of the counties, the ballots went out on March 12 and one on March 13 giving them less than THREE WEEKS to mail the ballots all the way to Podunk, Afghanistan and back. The Obama Justice Dept instead of asking for a full 45 days from mailing out to receive the ballots asked for only 30 days. How’s that for looking out for out military men and women?

Doesn't make one danged difference if they don't count the votes now does it..... hence the reason they are not counting the votes.... the majority will more than likely be for the repubs.

(ps.... don't mean to sound harsh at you; just p'od at the audacity of liberals)

Each and every time a Democrat goes before the people for their support - it should be demanded they answer the question: “Why do the Democrats disenfranchise our Military votes at every opportunity, and seek to over enfranchise the least among us, illegal aliens and felons?”.

If Americans are to be denied the ballot box, perhaps one day they will finally reach for the cartridge box..

I’m nearly 70, and for the FIRST time in my adult life, I wouldn’t condemn an assassin.... To paraphrase our lovely 1st lady...

Understood.
What I mean, of course, is that not ALL military are in Iraq or Afghanistan right now.
And, those that are, WILL return some day.
And, they WILL remember!

Actually, an assassin scares the hell out of me.

Obama would then be a martyr and Communism would be hard to stop.

These ‘’officials’’ should go to jail for not doing their job. Do these positions rquire them to be ‘’bonded’’ If so go after monetary damages.

I do not have the expertise to do this, so I call upon anyone who has both that, and the time: A central clearinghouse - a website, fully registered and operating within the strictest legal parameters - to post not only the criminal acts and transgressions of these thugs, from the federal level on down to the local town halls, but to also post their names, contact info, and likenesses (again, within the full scope of local, state, and federal law).

ANY VOLUNTEERS????!!?!?!?!!?

Was there a deadline by which the ballots had to be mailed out to the military? I understood that they were mailed by regular mail to go overseas a mere two to three days before the deadline for having them postmarked. It is fine to have a rule for postmarking, but what good does that do if they don’t have any deadline for mailing them out which allows for time to get there and then be filled out?

One more example of how Democrats have to cheat to win. Why do they have to cheat? Because the reality is that the majority rejects them. The MSM can pretend it doesn't, but the reality is Democrats have to cheat to win.

That's good news for Conservatives and Republicans.

I agree! However, I look at our history and see that, in hours of need, there were always great men to rise above the chaos and lead us. There is no dearth of military men who are as much heroes as any of our forefathers. Where there is a total lack of greatness is in the civilian world.

Where is the Adams or Jefferson or Lincoln or Jefferson Davis or Henry Clay or Daniel Webster or Teddy Roosevelt of today? Our civilian leadership is worthy of ridicule and contempt, for they are not leaders; they are destroyers.
