I looked on line for 45 acp today, everything including just the bullets (for reloading) is either sold out or priced outrageously. The ammo horders need to back off and let the rest of us have some too

yep, I agree.
We've had to cut our range time down from every-other week to about once a month now.
The only ammo I have a real strong desire to hoard right now is the imported military stuff. Imported military full metal jacket is definitely one of the types they will try to ban first. Fortunately, 7.62 x 54R surplus is still available and reasonably priced.

I went to a local Dicks sporting goods and they had no shortage of anything... are these hyped up stories to detract from an Obama gun grab?In Oregon, 9mm are almost impossible to buy. You have to be at the store when the delivery truck arrives, or else all you see is empty shelves.

give gunbroker.com a try if you haven’t already. quite a bit of the most common calibers available. some listed with the ‘buy now’(this for buyers who have had at least 2 previous transactions)option. I have picked up quite a lot of brass along with loaded ammo their in the last 2 months. decent prices also. just type in what you are looking for in the search box and go from there.

There have been any number of reports that stores in Liberal areas are more likely to have ammo in stock.

I’ve lived here 31 years. I’ve *never* heard the gun range as busy as it was today.

People are stocking up before a storm. Not everyone. There are some out there practicing. A year ago I would hear some shooting every 2nd or 3rd weekend. Some were 10 to 15 shot strings of rapid fire. Change my statement to...
People are preparing for a storm -- by both stocking up AND practicing.

Are these ammo shortages only in blue areas? I haven’t had any problem finding .38, .357, .45 ACP, .30-06 or .22 around here.

Even local LEOs & FLEAs have stopped quarterly qualification range days ............ammo is just not being made or what ??The ammo is available but the price has almost doubled. Most agencies have either cut back on the amount of ammo shot or the frequency.

Are these ammo shortages only in blue areas? I havent had any problem finding .38, .357, .45 ACP, .30-06 or .22 around here. I expect you to find
some boxes of 50 rounds of handgun ammo, or
some boxes of 20 rounds of rifle ammo
BUT not case lots of 500 or 1000 rounds
unless at near single box prices of $1 to $2 per round.

Our county in TX, county in NM and county north of us in OK can NOT find it.......our Sheriff is considering reloading / rolling their own !

concealed weapons are flying off the shelves.Well, if they are concealed, they wouldn't be on the shelf in the first place. They'd have to be under the counter or in some other hidden location in the store.

Very unfortunate. Here in the Inland Empire no ammo shortage for LEO but very little ammo available for retail.
The San Bernardino Sheriffs office years ago would make the inmate workers reload ammo. I think they should bring back the tradition. Times are rough, nobody should eat for free :)
