Someone please tell me where I can find reasonably priced 9mm and .22 LR in Fort Worth/Arlington/Tarrant County.
FWIW, a couple weeks ago I talked to a manufacturer about a small run of bullets for .416, .470, and .505 practice rounds. These folks make copper plated lead bullets used almost exclusively for paper punching with handguns. Their engineer said it might be do-able, but they couldn't even conceive of taking on another project for at least six months.
In the meantime, if anyone runs across kegs of Win 748, IMR 4350, IMR 4831, AA 2, or AA 9, I'd appreciate a ping.
There’s a big Crossroads of the West Gun Show in Phoenix at the State Fair Grounds April 25-26. It should be a mob scene. I started to stock up on components in October ‘08 once I read the tea leaves on just how this whole thing was going. Buy what you can when you can.
Nothin on the shelf in my AO friend....... I hunt with 45-70 and just poured about 200 hardcast bullets . I will load up what I have in brass and toss the rest back in reserve !
Buying brass , primers , jacketed bullets and powder as I can find it !
Slim pickings indeed !
Maybe pretty soon I will be able to trade those 500 rd. bricks of .22 I’ve been saving for a Taurus PT111, etc. LOL. Wonder why manufacturers can’t keep up with demand? Are people actually buying that much, or is production being cut to produce demand or....???
Back in december I heard some rumors that members of Obamas supporters possibly ACORN were given blank checks and told to buy as much of the personal defense ammo as they could find, it was to be warehoused and not to be discussed or used.
Myself I recently went straight to Barnes and bought 3 boxes of the tactical .40/10mm 155gr. bullets, free shipping if order is over $75, it took about 4 days to arrive and I am in Alaska, thats fast! Pricey they were, I am splitting them up into two batches of reloads in my .40 and the 10mm.
Funny thing I just found out, back in 2003 I reloaded hundreds of Winchester Silvertips in 9mm, 10mm and .45 and apparently people consider them as collectibles now as production stopped on them yet they are still some of the best performing bullets on the market.
True ... and demand is just going to go up.
What exactly are they trying to say?
“The FBI performed more than a million background checks in the three months after the election than it did the previous year. “
I heard that, in early '08 I saw what was coming, I bought a crap load of components, dusted off the Reloading Press and went to work... Wife said, "well you haven't used that in awhile, whats going on?...". after the financial bust and the election she said "holy crap, you sure you loaded enough?... order more!", Ah my kinda woman!
So I'm just waiting on some back ordered materials... and waiting to press...:-)
I handload everything I shoot but rimfires. Nevertheless I have contributed to this shortage as well. Gotta get new brass from somewhere, and it’s more fun to make once-fired brass than buying it new.
I thought about picking up a recurve and making my arrows with untraceable hardwood dowel rod. A black lacquered shaft always got the attention of the sheriff when Robin Hood pinned a message to the door with one.;>)
Bow hunting will be cheaper. The problem is, with the current gun crimes all over the news, the brady jerks screaming to ban guns and cnn and abc joining them in the call to repeal the second amendment... and dims knowing taxation is the only form of control that they can get past their own blue dogs in the House... I do not forsee any way for prices to come down until our gooberment is changed. Buying now may save money in the future.
I worked hard to build my own private range on my property and hussein will not stop me entirely from enjoying it. I mostly shoot my .22’s... Wally World still has a cheap price on Federal .22 lr value packs. Good shooting!

;-)
If you check Natchez, you can find 9mm and 22lr in stock once or twice a week if you check several times a day. If you find it, buy it because it's only going to last a few hours.
Yep, it's like canned tuna fish, plywood and portable generator sales in the projected path of a hurricane.
That's what I've read - 24/7 production is still way below the demand volume.
Do shotgun shells go bad after a certain amount of time in a gun safe...how about other ammo? If they do deteriorate, what is the best way to dispose of them?
The liberals are stocking up also. Many are sure that the conservative/Christians/FReepers are going to start a coup.
