Investigators believe a father killed his five children in Graham and then himself after learning his wife was leaving him for another man, a sheriff's spokesman said Sunday.

GRAHAM, Pierce County — The father who killed his five children in their home Saturday morning shot them after his wife told him she was leaving him for another man, law-enforcement officials said Sunday.
He later killed himself.
The 34-year-old man, whom relatives have identified as James Harrison, took his 16-year-old daughter and drove toward Auburn Friday night, and confronted his wife at a convenience store, Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said. The wife, the mother of the children — who were ages 7 to 16 — had been away from home for a couple of days, Troyer said.

Granted her admission of ‘leaving with her new boyfriend’ was evil, cold and self centric— but please do not lose sight of the monster that decided to sacrifice five young lives over this blow to his ego.

Yes - there is a need for a public campaign like that.
This is a very sad story coming as it does at the start of Holy Week. How much more can we as a family of a nation endure this sad suffering and unspeakable brutality?
Not taking up for nor excusing the woman in any way. But there is a different context to her statement-just maybe not the callous remark it seems on the surface. I had read earlier Social Services had been called to the home. I could not find the quote, but did find this:

A father who is believed to have killed his five children before committing suicide this weekend was found to have physically abused one of his children in 2007, according to Washington Department of Social and Human Services records.
State records released Sunday show the child was abused in February 2007 but was not removed from the family’s home located in a mobile-home park in Graham, said Sherry Hill, a spokeswoman for Children’s Administration in DSHS.
DSHS is conducting a full review of records and cooperating with law enforcement officials, Hill said.

He didn't do it to make himself feel better. He did it to hurt his wife in a way that she will never forget and can never fix.
