I’m so glad we have “representatives” that are out and about the really important things our nation needs.

Is there a more obnoxious person in American public life? Is there?

I guess this makes it official.

There is absolutely no aspect of life in America they will not try to regulate.

(Before I clicked on the article I was sure this had to be satire, but I suppose that the aspiring grasp of these craven sots is beyond that.)

I would be hard put to name the worst---but I'd start at the top of the dung heap with obammy, then go on down through Pelosi, Reid, Bwarny, Dodd---see what I mean! Where does one stop?

Sad and scary, isn't it.

Doesn't the government have more important things to worry about?

That said the resellers are a pain in the wallet.

I used to pay for Pocono Raceway tickets but a few years ago the resellers jumped in and made it hard to get decent tickets directly and they charge too much (legally).

But now I go free (volunteer as an usher, see the race for free)so I don't care.

What about laws against people wiping from back to front? Isn’t that a public health hazard? Shouldn’t the government get involved?

(Just trying to come up with some additional “important issues” the dems haven’t thought to regulate yet.)

Time to move on to the most oppressive issue in America today: high concession stand prices. Those people are making EXCESSIVE profits on popcorn and soda. I’m sure that’s un-constitutional. Or something.....

Whew! What a relief!

I’m so glad that, with the economy circling the toilet, my penny-pinching will be easier given I’ll be able to buy cheaper necessities like concert tickets, thanks to the foresight of my elected officials at the national level.

Here's the solution to that problem: develop good taste. I never have any problem getting great seats at a reasonable price to see acts ranging from Marshall Crenshaw to Don Williams. I saw Beatlegras from the 5th row Saturday night, and I just picked up third row tickets at face value off the Ticketmaster site to see Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer doing their Spinal Tap Unplugged show in April. There's even a site here in Dallas (stubdog.com) where you can buy tickets to a lot of local plays for half-price.

Just develop some taste and you'll never fork over $500 to watch Britney Spears lip-synch or Carrie Underwood desecrate country music ever again.

Ticket resellers are part of the financial structuring of an event and guarantee the sponsors/performers the necessary guarantees that the shows will be a financial success. Am I mistaken?

What’s the most dangerous place in the world?

Between Smuckie Schumer and a TV camera.

The dirty secret is that these aren’t “resellers” they are tickets provided by the company that owns the ticket service. They withhold them from the computer to begin with. Then as the show date approaches and high dollar tickets remain unsold, they silently add them to the general pool of tickets concert buyers can buy from the primary service for face value.

It is a monopoly. What’s more the venues are often civic owned.

This is just masking the underlying problems (like the conflict of interest in permitting the ticket company to scalp their own seats without actually BUYING the seats).

But Chuck wouldn’t actually take on Big Media.

Here's the solution to that problem: develop good taste.

You can say that again. I saw Rod Picot and Amanda Shires Saturday night for $8.00 a ticket and I was ten feet from the stage. One of the best shows I've ever seen. And then after the show I sat and chatted with them for half an hour in a bar next to the venue.

Anybody who loves good singer/songwriters should do themselves a favor and check out Rod Picot.
