They mail back her head and I will admit I’m wrong, other than that I will bet money she is complicit in this.

Me, too.

Truman’s bombing of Japanese cities was cold blooded murder. Nothing else.

The Japanese were making peace overtures to us since 1943 and the two bombs were superfluous.

Stick to facts.

How would we win in Afghanistan? Bomb the entire nation until not one living soul remains?

Try to focus ont he fact that the Civil War was started by the north two years before Lincoln freed the slaves so it wasn’t about freeing the slaves it was about establishing an all-powerful federal govt (kind of like we have now).

Let’s, as conservatives, not excuse the evils of the past.

One of their 'peace overtures' in 1945 killed over 300 men on my grandfather's carrier during Okinawa. Take your revisionist bullcrap and stick it right back where you got it from.

Nonsense.

My F-I-L was in the Signal Corps, was at Iwo and Saipan and had his orders cut for the invasion of mainland Japan. He was involved in the postwar occupation as well, so he knew what was going on at first hand.

The die-hards even attempted to kidnap the emperor to prevent him from recording the surrender speech for broadcast.

Don’t get me wrong guys, I’m glad we won WWII and the Pacific Theater. So, let’s not have any misunderstanding here.

Let’s also not forget that no one at the time of the bombing was bandying about that tripe about saving 1 million American lives - that’s a lie invented after even our own political leaders thought the bombing of those two Japanese cities was “overkill”.

Death, death, death and lecturing from the side that fought on behalf of Joseph Stalin - remember that WWII was largely Evil v. Evil. Hitler and his evil minions on one side and Joseph Stalin and his evil minions on the other. I’m glad we won, but I ain’t pleased with us.

Hey, Mr. B:
You’re “DO I Give A Damn” processor is hysterical!!! Love it!

While I don’t hope they behead this woman, I am left to wonder whether, were she freed, she would ever see the evil in her captors. Or, would she then go on a quixotic quest to “understand” them, too?

Dan, my side was the American side.

But part of me is nagging away at the grim idea that FDR fought that war to make the world safe for world government. After all, look what happened after WWII?

The U.N. was formed.
Joseph Stalin was idolized by the American left and many in Israel.
The USSR created the Iron Curtain.
Abortion was legalized in the U.S.
The post-1965 Immigration bill.

None of these abominations would have occurred if FDR didn’t poke Japan in the eye over and over and over again to get us into this war.

Glad we won, guys. Why didn’t our own govt allow us to win in Korea, Vietnam and now Iraq? Who’s fighting us?

Of course the Islamic terrorists today, but who’s helping them? The terrorists are largely deranged retards, so who else is involved?

I’m glad we won, I want everyone to know that. But let’s not allow ourselves to be taken over and over again.

Bull.

Read up on the FOIA released Operation Coronet documents. The official pre-invasion casualty estimates were 100% of the first wave and ultimately 1,000,000 US KIA.

You are really stepping in it now. My grandfather witnessed some of the horrors of Okinawa firsthand. His ship went back to Bremerton for repairs and would have gone back out for the home island invasion which would have been on a far, far worse scale than Okinawa. Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved millions of lives - quite possibly, his was one of them.

I had second thoughts after posting that.
The graphic is funny, but not so much in this application...

No, she probably won’t change her mind about the captors or their religion. She’s a lib, after all.

Yeah, sure. Except for one little detail - the Japanese invaded China without FDR's prodding. They wanted the Western Pacific to be a Japanese lake and they were willing to massacre by the millions to make that happen.

Wrong again.

My F-I-L helped FORMULATE the casualty estimates.

BEFORE the bombs were dropped.

You are egregiously misinformed.

I’m glad we won, but I ain’t pleased with us.

The stalemate of WWI, the armistice, let directly to WWII.

The stalemate of the Korean War has been with us for over 50 years. That is the model of a "negotiated end" to a war.

You would rather Japan be like North Korea?

How would a negotiated end to the Civil War look now?

I have been involved in legal proceedings that I tried to "settle" for 10 years. Until I had him nailed to the wall it just kept going.

You can't negotiate with people who will not keep their word. Whether an individual, a party, a religion, or a country.

Someone has to lose before it will end. The Korean War still has to be resolved by winning or losing.

You need to read David Horowitz' book The politics of bad faith.
