Bachmann warns gov't creating 're-education camps' @ 1:04 pm by Michael O'Brien

The government is at risk of creating "re-education camps for young people," Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).

"I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service," Bachmann said on a Minnesota radio show Monday. "And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums."

Bachmann was talking about the Serve America Act, passed recently in Congress as a way to encourage community service for young Americans.

"It’s under the guise of — quote — volunteerism," she said. "But it’s not volunteers at all. It’s paying people to do work on behalf of government."

Bachmann has been anything but quiet during this term in Congress, with her outspoken remarks often drawing the ire of liberal bloggers.

It’s pretty obvious to a paranoid like me that this “mandatory voluntary service” is for indoctrinating those that escape indoctrination in public schools.

My lib-inlaw thinks this service is a good idea, even if it’s mandatory. She doesn’t agree with “sheltering” kids from leftist ideology.

I’m betting she hasn’t thought of the implications. The gov’t will have to come and take my kids by force and shoot me in the process. Libs never think beyond their feelings to the results of their ideology.

Mandatory language was taken out of HR1388,

but snuck in later, en toto, in HR1444.

***The government is at risk of creating “re-education camps for young people,” Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.). ****

I am reminded of an old (1965) political cartoon from LBJ’s War on Poverty...

A hillbilly family ...

Maw...”I see the President has declared war on poverty!”

Paw (laying in the shade sipping on a bottle)...”Well if he wants me to join he is going to have to draft me!”

They won’t let parents in the classroom to counter the teacher when s/he teaches everything from godless assumptions.

So, we homeschool.

I dont think it’s that simple. A lot of people have stood up for their values in regard to Notre Dame. Standing up sometimes leads to success sometimes not.

Similarly, textbooks used by schools all over the country are influenced by decisions made in California and other big states. Parents elsewhere have essentially zero influence on those decisions.

H.R. 1444: Congressional Commission on Civic Service Act

Identical in every single way to the 1388 text - they didn’t even rearrange the section numbers (6.b I believe):

(5) The effect on the Nation, on those who serve, and on the families of those who serve, if all individuals in the United States were expected to perform national service or were required to perform a certain amount of national service.

(6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

HR1444 is in committee in the House, miles away from passing. HR1388 has passed both Senate and House votes. It is being tweaked for signature.

There is, as you say, the use in HR1444 of the word mandatory but it is in an exploratory fashion (still nefarious).

The more troubling issue is the intention to create a National Service Academy to be run like West Point but for career civil servants. This is the brain child of a couple of far left enviro-queers who have been lobbying for years to make this happen.

I'll see if I can find their site...it's spooky.

We already have Marxist re-education classes for young people.

They're called universities.

This will be used to re-educate those who resist comforming to the new world order. Lots of adults will be sent to these camps. Those who fail to be converted to the new religion will vanish.

There is a video on the net showing one of these camps, Beck will show it on his show today at 5 EST.
