WASHINGTON A judge has dismissed charges against former Sen. Ted Stevens because of prosecutorial misconduct and has ordered a criminal contempt investigation of the prosecutors.
"In nearly 25 years on the bench, I've never seen anything approaching the mishandling and misconduct that I've seen in this case," U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan said in the opening moments of a hearing.

More than one criminal has been freed once it’s been established that the prosecutors engaged in a pattern of illegal behavior to achieve their convictions. If the investigation that Sullivan has ordered goes deeply into that office, we may be surprised at what shows up.
He sent out an order on Sunday that no files, emails, notes, etc. were to be destroyed in that office. If enough is found, they may go back years to see the extent of the corruption. That could (theoretically) end up overturning virtually all of their convictions.
Think this thing is going to get really, really messy before it’s done.
