I tend to think most of these men that kill their families during divorce/separation are already unstable. It’s not the unfair division of weekends or furniture that sets them off, it’s the fact that for once, they are no longer in control of the wives and kids. What do they say - a woman’s life is most in danger when she actually leaves her abuser? It’s not love, it’s not being enraged at the thought of seeing the kids on weekends, it’s about control, plain and simple. They no longer have it. “If I can’t have you/them, nobody’s going to...”

BINGO! We have a winner. Loss of control is exactly what this kind of thing is about

Wouldn’t doubt that. Plus who knows how much these people are or have been medicated. Anti depressants rewire the brain and who knows if that is good or bad at this point.

Not looking to pick a fight...but there is bias built into your response. If the mother want to control the kids, that is perfectly normal (admirable), if it is the estranged father that wants to control the kids, he is a manipulative, violent sociopath.

Don't get me wrong. THERE IS NO EXCUSE for this murderous behavior.

I am attmpting to discuss whether the bias in the law against fathers drives (at least in part) the bias in the number of these crimes committed by men.

Exactly.
And our family has lost a member due to her having the nerve to file from divorce from a philandering abusive controlling man.
She paid for it with her life.
