The story is leaked now in order to give cover to the Cybersecurity legislation which puts the internet under White House control. I already heard an earlier story about the millions spent by the Pentagon fixing cyberspace break-ins.

Terrorism will be denied by this administration until they want to use it to justify treading on our liberty. [In usual form, this is the strategy that they blamed on Bush.]

Instead of “Terrorism” they’ll say “Sabotage”

There is now a small group of Republican Congressmen who want to require that all activity on “internet communication services” (including your personal home wireless router even if password protected) be logged for two years. This means your old wireless router will have to be tossed as it has no hard drive. Sometimes I wonder if the tin foil hats of the Rats and Pubs deserve each other.

After immediate panic, I read the article, and realized that this could be to scare us into giving up our internet freedom in the name of “security”.

So, what do we all think. Is this FUD or a real threat?

From CDT | Center for Democracy & Technology

"Cybersecurity Bill Proposes Unprecedented Government Power Over the Internet
A cybersecurity bill introduced today in the Senate would give the federal government extraordinary power over private sector Internet services, applications and software. The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 would, for example, give the President unfettered power to shut down Internet traffic in emergencies or disconnect any critical infrastructure system or network on national security grounds. The bill would grant the Commerce Department the ability to override all privacy laws to access any information about Internet usage in connection with a new role in tracking cybersecurity threats. The bill, introduced by Sens. John Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe, would also give the government unprecedented control over computer software and Internet services, threatening innovation, freedom and privacy. CDT President and CEO Leslie Harris said, "The cybersecurity threat is real, but such a drastic federal intervention in private communications technology and networks could harm both security and privacy." The Democrats are MASTERS at “projection”!

One could argue that even when some Conservatives had serious concerns about some of Bush’s decisions while in office, it is much more likely his INTENTIONS were good — that he did what he thought best.

The Democrats on the other hand — their hypocrisy is absolutely STUNNING! This is nothing more than a big game to them, and so many of the people who support them don’t recognize how truly EVIL these people can be. (And, I say that knowing full well that the Dems will deny that till the cows come home, especially in light of today’s announcement by Deepak Chopra “evil & Satan” are a MYTH, and don’t exist. How can you be something that doesn’t exist? Awful convenient...)
