Navy Sharpshooters? With Obama as our President, you think a Naval officer is going to give an order to take out a Somali “civilian” caught up in the fray, because “civilian” is exactly what this administration & the media would call the guy who swam after the captain. The media would swallow the story the guy the Navy sharpshooter took out was simply caught up in this thing and was actually trying to rescue the captain from drowning. The Naval officer would be demoted and face charges. The sharpshooter would be kicked out of the service and the family of the “civilian” would get $100,000 taxpayer bucks for their agony!

Why weren’t there Seals in the water? Are there instructions from the White House to avoid a confrontation?

WORST HEADLINE EVER!

HE didn’t fail. Our people should have been able to grab him the second he escaped from that vessel.

You would think that infrared sights would be trained on those undocumented Somalia sailors

Guess not. The Captain made a bold attempt for freedom and no one was even paying attention? That’s harsh.

Dead Men Floating

Why are these guys still sucking in oxygen?

An unbelievable failure of leadership.

After this incident, the Navy should unload on Somali ports and Pirate ships. That will learn them!

Two explanations for this:

-He has more sympathy for those Muslim pirates than he does for our American sailors, and/or

-He's simply a big, fat pu$$y. He makes Jimmy Carter look like Chuck Norris.

Someone called into Rush L's show yesterday (a captain on a merchant marine) who said another captain had emailed him telling him that Obammie’s Commies had instructed the crew of the captured ship that they'd be held accountable for any harm caused to the pirates.

I know, I know, purely anecdotal and hearsay.

If true, though, how entirely backwards.

These pirates need to be made into fish food. FAST.

This is so wrong and so embarrassing. Where are the Seals/Delta? ... if they had been unleashed this whole piracy problem could have been solved in 48 hours. Just a few pirates are holding the mightiest nation hostage ... this does bode well for our future on the world stage.

Was the destroyer monitoring the pirate boat? They do have night vision in the Navy right?

As soon as the captain was overboard and out of direct line of fire, flip on the CWIS and turn the rest of the pirates into chum. They don’t have men standing watch with .50cal guns?

Pathetic. The hostage separates himself from his captors but gets no help.

Meanwhile, “We have the USS Bainbridge on station currently negotiating with the pirates.” What BS!

"We always thought that one of the potential game changers out there was the US flag -- with US citizens onboard."

With Obambi calling the shots? The US and all US citizens everywhere in the world are in more danger because everyone knows he's weak.

Easy for me to say but it seems that if surrounded and confronted in close quarters, the pirates can either harm the captain and die, or release him. I don’t think they are suicide martyrs.

Should the navy sink these other hostage ships the pirates are sending out? The survivors can be rescued at sea. I think at this point you forget about the insurance value of ships which are being used by an enemy power.

But then it would be pointless to lose the hostages. Can’t we sink that lifeboat and pick the survivors out of the water?

One of the prime needs of a sharp shooter is a stationary platform from which to fire, especially at the distance we’re talking about here. I doubt the deck of a destroyer, even in relatively calm seas, is stable enough to afford a decent shot.

I get very antsy when I see how long this is taking. But then I realize that as bad as it is for all of us it must be really tough on the pirates, not to mention the captain.

I am sure that the delay works to the good of the captain, tough as it is on those of us watching from afar, praying for his safe return!

An idea: give the pirates a kilogram of opium, pipes, and lighters. I doubt they’d have ability to resist smoking themselves into basket cases. Once the captain is rescued, shoot a hole in the boat and leave them to their own devices.
