Proposal To Let Illegals Vote Sparks Outrage

Proposal To Let Illegals Vote Sparks Outrage

A Framingham representative admits her idea to allow illegal immigrants to vote in town elections is controversial.

Rep. Pam Richardson pitched the idea to fellow democrats in a meeting. But when word hit the Internet the angry calls started coming.

Now Richardson is doing some damage control.

"Its probably not likely I will push for this," she said.

Richardson admits she is backing off.

She floated the idea in a meeting with democrats over their state party platform. She said let illegal immigrants vote locally and they will be better neighbors.

"You want people who live in your community to feel they are part of the community," she said.

Where she lives in Framingham many places don't even have English on the menu.

"People are here paying taxes, and they shouldn't be treated differently than other people," one person told WBZ.

But those aren't the calls Richardson is fielding after the video hit YouTube.

"It's a terrible idea," one man said. "I think our representatives are insane."

"If you are a citizen of this country you have a say in what goes on," a woman said. "If you don't become a citizen you shouldn't have that right."

The anger is overwhelming Richardson's office, and what she thought was a cutting edge idea is now apparently dead.

"It takes an unselfish act to stick you neck out and say something when you realize politically it's potentially going to be a negative," Richardson said.

Richardson tells WBZ she will wait a few weeks to gather more community input. The state democrats meet in June where she would pitch her idea if she chooses to do so.

...I don't regard it as a serious attempt at legislation, just merely a cheap attempt to ingratiate herself and her party to Hispanics. I suppose however for the oxymoronic thinking liberal, the rationale would go something like: 'the Constitution doesn't say that only citizens can vote, and it depends on how you define, 'person.' Absurd of course. I wouldn't worry too much about this one.

“It takes an unselfish act to stick you neck out and say something when you realize politically it’s potentially going to be a negative,” Richardson said.

BS. When and where she said it, her proposal was not politically negative; she didn’t stand by her position once it did generate a negative reaction... dropped it like a hot potato.

It was actually rather cowardly. Courage would have been standing by her original proposition regardless of the political consequences. She was merely pandering to her Dem colleagues; then pandering to her constituents.

‘”If you are a citizen of this country you have a say in what goes on,” a woman said. “If you don’t become a citizen you shouldn’t have that right.” ‘

This sentence is a good illustration of something we once had in the United States but seems to be disappearing by the second. It’s called common sense.

Can I go get to vote in Mexican elections? After all, it’s only fair if their citizens get to vote in the United States then U.S. citizens should be get to vote in foreign elections.

What difference does it make? Our new POTUS has a 'plan' for ALL illegals - and if it is as successful as his first two months in office, it won't matter what ANY of us want.

We are going to be bombarded with 'new citizens' from south of the border, along with everybody in their familia. And we, the citizens will have to empty our pockets to make sure they get every bennie they are 'entitled' to.

I was thinking the same thought. What the heck, since Democrats are so enamored with the idea of foreign citizens in our country voting why not open it to everyone on the globe.

I bet Congressional Black Caucus members will get a giant surprise when they are all voted out and replaced by Asians.

Every illegal immigrant is a citizen of a foreign nation. Democrats are power hungry pigs willing to whore themselves to the lowest bidder for votes.

Husband And Wife Plead Guilty To Massive Florida Straw Buyer Scheme

Staff Reporter, 06/02/08

Juan and Rachael Torrens pled guilty to conspiracy charges in connection with their participation in a recent multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme in South Florida. The defendants acknowledged as part of their guilty plea that their scheme produced over $15,000,000 in fraudulent loans, and resulted in losses of over $5,000,000 to various lenders. With Juan and Rachael Torrens‘ guilty pleas, 15 of the original 31 defendants charged have pled guilty.

As previously reported by Mortgage Fraud Blog, defendants Juan Torrens, the de facto owner of Amsouth Trust & Investment Corp. (”Amsouth”) and president of Countryside Land & Development, Inc., Rachael Torrens, president of 1st Choice Realty of South Florida, Inc. and de facto owner of First United Mortgage USA Corp., Daniel Ramos, Alfonso A. Muxo, a State of Florida certified real estate appraiser and owner of Palm Bay Real Estate Appraisals, Inc., and Katherine Harris, former president and part owner of Floridian Home Title Corporation, were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and/or wire fraud for their participation in this massive mortgage fraud scheme.

The scheme involved fraudulent mortgage loans obtained for the purchase of 28 properties located in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, Florida, and in the City of Marco Island. All except Katherine Harris have already pled guilty, and are awaiting sentence.

The Indictment also charges defendants Mario E. Diaz, Aurelio Pozo, Oscar Barreiro, Lellany Rordriguez, Jose Asensi, Carlos Morales, Damaris Jimenez, Lizabeth Perez, Mario Blanco, Rene Rodriguez, Tamaris Angulo, Alicia Loaiza, Ester Crespo, Jesus Enrique Guevara, Janette Lugo, Priscilla Fleitas, Erick Clavijo, Luis DeJesus Planas, Moises Llorens, Milva Roque, Aurora Ramentol, Gladys Lens, Nancy Fundora, Yanny Cruz Pavon, Roger Rosario and Jacqueline Perez-Castillo ("the straw buyer defendants") with wire fraud for their participation in this mortgage fraud scheme. To date, guilty pleas have been entered by defendants Aurelio Pozo, Oscar Barreiro, Carlos Morales, Damaris Jimenez, Mario Blanco, Jesus Enrique Guevara, Janette Lugo, Priscilla Fleitas, Moises Llorens, Gladys Lens, and Roger Rosario.

According to the Indictment, Juan Torrens would identify sellers of residential properties who were willing to overstate the true selling price of their properties. Daniel Ramos and Juan Torrens would then recruit and pay the straw buyer defendants to pose as buyers and ostensibly participate in the purchase of the selected properties. Defendants Rachael Torrens and Juan Torrens would prepare fraudulent mortgage loan applications for the straw purchasers that included false employment verifications, pay stubs, income and funds on deposit, and IRS Forms W-2.

Thereafter, to support the overstated sales prices on the properties and the fraudulent mortgage applications, defendant Alonso A. Muxo would prepare fraudulent appraisals attesting to the inflated property values dictated by Juan Torrens. Roger Rosario, an employee of Regions Bank, assisted the fraud by providing, on at least one occasion, a fraudulent verification of deposit in connection with a mortgage loan application for one of the straw buyer defendants.

To effectuate the scheme, defendants Juan Torrens and Rachael Torrens, together with the straw buyer defendants, would create and submit to the banks and lending institutions HUD-Settlement Statement Forms, also known as HUD-1s, which falsely stated that the straw buyers brought their own funds to the closings. Once the mortgage applications were approved, the lenders would wire the loan proceeds to the title company, Floridian Home Title, for closing. At closing, Amsouth, a company owned and controlled by Juan Torrens, would receive a credit for the difference between the inflated price and the actual selling price of the property. Defendants Juan and Rachael Torrens would make the payments on the mortgage loans to maintain the loans afloat until the properties could be resold again, often to another straw buyer.

When the Torrenses failed to make payments on the loans, some properties went into foreclosure, resulting in substantial losses to the lending institutions (and US taxpayers).

July 21, 2006
Two held in bust of bogus ID operation

NORTH BERGEN, NJ -- Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, authorities said.

The two men turned a Tonnelle Avenue hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local identity broker.

They were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses for any state in the US, passports and resident alien cards, said state police.

Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a hotel parking lot. Authorities wouldn't identify the hotel by name for fear it would spark retribution. The Drug Interdiction Task Force, regularly runs checks. The brothers were followed to an office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the brothers to a storage facility in Secaucus, where they loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout. Authorities approached them when they returned to the hotel and questioned them separately. The brothers consented to a search.

Police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs.

All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street. Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a fake document broker for a shipment of 500 Social Security cards.
