WASHINGTON FBI agents planned to interview the crew of a U.S. cargo ship Saturday as the bureau began building a criminal case against Somali pirates who attacked the ship and took the captain hostage.
The Maersk Alabama arrived safely in Yemen on Saturday, three days after Somali pirates stormed the ship, failed to hijack it, and fled in a lifeboat with the captain.
"The FBI has informed us that this ship is a crime scene," John Rhinehart, president of Maersk Shipping Line said Saturday, explaining why crew members cannot immediately leave the ship.

Yeah, this’ll work! I can’t imagine being questioned by the FBI after an incident like this. Who is kidding who here? I’d probably be inclined to tell the nice special agent not to waste my time.
Have they read the pirates their rights? Wouldn’t want the case to be thrown out on a technicality.
Did the crew have something to do with this?
It’s an act of war, not cops and robbers. Obama’s Administration is populated by idiots and tax cheats.

Even if this was all military, the brass would have those servicement debriefed, if they were involved in any kind of action like this. It’s not something out of the ordinary. It’s to be expected.
By doing this, you also can find out something that can help in the future.
JIMMY CARTER ALL OVER AGAIN.
Clinton took this route with the first World Trade bombing.
He managed to give us the second World Trade disaster because the Muslims saw how ineffectual the Americans were.
Thanks, Zero. We are on the mark and countdown for another serious attack.
*I didn’t vote for this clown and seriously doubt he won without fraud.
This was the first report on this incident that made me laugh out loud. Lord help us.
Throw the FBI agents over the side. They’re only there to stir up trouble and charge people with trumped up crap. The crew did the right thing by throwing the pirates over the side. Pirates have no rights, they’re pirates.

Not yet, but I do hear Obama is reviewing this...
How to talk like a pirate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWgxuc45YCY
Next..., he’s renting Pirates of the Caribbean for more clues on how to handle things with pirates...
Besides the obvious posted above-why wait for four days to start interviewing the crew ?
Maybe the crew had some valuable info to impart.
The delay is bizarre.
But, typical of TOTUS.

Actually, you might be surprised after you look at my list...
A previous post of mine below...
Well, an interesting thing happened on the way to Free Republic for me, yesterday..., it just started with a simple post yesterday and two little items on it... I never intended for the following list to come about... LOL...
Heres where it all started, and then some FReepers started giving me some more events.. :-)

THEN... it turned into this...

Its a good comparison of what Obama is doing now, and you can compare it to what Reagan did in his terms in office (Oh wow!...)...
Back to the 9/10/01 mentality.
Sure, arrest them. If you can find them. Oh, wait, no jurisdiction.
Oh, well, give them a million dollars or two, and apologize for trying to arrest them.
Criminal case? Yeah...lets do what the Spanish and Italians are doing....Have a mock trial and convict them of war crimes. Oh brother. That’ll scare them!
This is laughably pathetic.
You asked — Did the crew have something to do with this?
—
I guess they had something to do with regaining control of the ship... LOL..
Terrorism I imagine is also now a law enforcement issue?
This is what happens when clueless people are elected to fill the position of Commander in Chief or as Obama called it, “Commander of Chiefs.”
He's a clueless man who lacks the insight, experience, and character to do the right thing. His failure as President is nearly guaranteed, although he will attempt to sell himself and spin his failures the entire time he's in office. Obama feels more comfortable on the campaign trail than making decisions reference pirates, Iraq, or much else for that matter. That's why you'll see him on TV every night, why he'll spend lots of time in Europe where they love him and he can make beautiful speeches degrading the US with all the cliche arguments many Europeans want to believe.......... Welcome to the Obama show.
>>”The FBI has informed us that this ship is a crime scene,” John Rhinehart, president of Maersk Shipping Line said Saturday, explaining why crew members cannot immediately leave the ship.<<
I do believe that would piss me off...
If they’d lit up the lifeboat when the captain had jumped overboard and temporarily escaped, we’d not be having to worry about all this nonsense about a trial.
You asked — Besides the obvious posted above-why wait for four days to start interviewing the crew ?

I would imagine the reason why is that the military probably got “first shot” at the crew as far as what had happened....
After they were finished, they probably told the FBI they could “have at it now...” :-)
This is so Awesome. Those pirates are going to crap their pants when they hear that there will be criminal charges against them. Maybe CSI will find some hairs or something on the boat to seal their fate. And when those lawyers on Law & Order finish prosecuting them they will be in jail for life!
BULL!
Using the FBI, at ALL sends the wrong signal.
We need the pirates to realize that we will shoot on sight, and that they will not live to see a trial.
How in the hell can we possibly “prosecute” in these situations, anyway?
How can we make sure that an ENTIRE CREW, of the captured ship, plus the ENTIRE CREW of each Navy ship, is available for a “trial”???
This is absurd!
Piracy is an act of war.
We need to see some dead pirates, nothing else will solve the problem.
The PIRATES need to see LOTS AND LOTS Of DEAD PIRATES!
You said — Using the FBI, at ALL sends the wrong signal.
—
Well, I do hope you realize that the FBI didn’t get “first shot” at the “interviewing” of these guys...
I can pretty well guarantee you that it was the “military”... LOL...
You said — I do believe that would piss me off...
—
Ummm..., I would imagine that the crew is still “on the payroll”.... :-)
I would say:
“Arrest me you jerk! See what the press thinks when you arrest victims and give money and food and protection to PIRATES!”
What jurisdiction covers the ocean 250 mils off the shore of Somalia? I’d tell the FBI to go pound sand. Get the Captn back and then we’ll talk.
The military would have NO jurisdiction over noncombatant American citizens, or any other noncombatant, for that matter.
You are guessing, and you are guessing without any facts to back yourself up.
Shirley, you jest! Civilization of helpless babes with law degrees!
Europe rolled Obama!
Yet Obama’s ego will not allow Obama to admit that he can not use his teleprompter to solve every problem.
I suppose you’re reporting from “on the scene”... LOL...
Excuse me -—
It was your ignorant post that made statements of “fact” that are not at all in evidence.
Let us hope they have a version of Miranda Rights translated from Austrian into Somalian language, or the criminal case ist kaput!
I’ll stand by my statement that the military got first shot at those guys... I take it that you’re taking the stance that it was the FBI that got first shot? LOL..
We’ll see who is right... :-)
this ship is a crime scene,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Well.....I can see we are back to treating acts of was as crime scenes.
>>Ummm..., I would imagine that the crew is still on the payroll.... :-)<<
Good point - that might be a mitigating factor...
Type of weapons
Amount of ammunition
Number of combatants
Communications
Provisions
YES! But the military would not give a rats ass about “making a criminal case” and would not worry much about what names the pirates went by, or the individual descriptions of each pirate.
The FBI should NOT be involved.
The world now knows that Obama will have LAWYERS defend America, rather than our Armed Forces!
And then after the military got through... (as I said), they would tell the FBI that they could “have at it”... and do whatever they want with those guys...
There ya go...
You are closest to the true motivation for these "interviews".
The FBI are plugging leaks by threatening the papers/licenses of these merchant seamen/engineers/radio officers.
They will be told what to say if they ever want to sail again, and I'll bet they will be threatened with prosecution for insubordination and illegal use of force.
I just heard on radio news that the boat is not out of gas, and is now within 20 miles of shore.
Not until leftist pirate-protecting advocates, lawyers, prosecutors, judges and global activists become involved (sarcasm).
The pirates are not criminals. Piracy is terrorism by sea. They need to be shot on sight at sea or hung as soon as ANY nation’s authorities arrest them and confirm their activities.
The end result will be some member of the crew will be convicted of lying to the FBI because some other member of the crew didn’t remember it the same way and the pirates get their $2 mil.
It will take the Sheeple another year or so to realize what "Change" they have... But, they will...
Obama wants to make sure no one on the crew was illegally armed. (only 1/2 kidding)
