“Puppy Mills” are an Oprah cause that has been on the front burner here in PA for over ten years.
Laws have been passed about animal care that have forced legitimate animal shelters contracted to house stray animals to close down.
The laws impose massive costs on the shelters and their services to local municipal governments in the area have been lost.
The area SPCA has built a new facility that will hopefully serve the need. But I’m wondering if some government inspector will show up and declare that animals are being “poorly treated” there.
Animal inspectors now have more power in this area.
Of course now that the cost of caring for stray animals is higher in the new expensive SPCA facility, I wonder if euthanization occurs sooner for animals who aren’t adopted.
That’s one apsect worth checking out.......
They do not feel very different than this about children...
A government program that had the opposite of its intended effect... Unprecedented...NOT!
See I don't know if that is the case. I only had a few items and the store was busy. All I wanted was to get out of there. This line appeared to be shortest. Ha... So my first clue there was a problem, was this gal got beet red in the face. And started digging through her sacks of groceries saying everything I have in these sacks came from the 'food' department.
It took me at least 5 minutes to figure out what the problem was... as I was monitoring other lines to make a fast retreat, and it was just plain embarrassing for me to observe this whole thing.
I LIKE IT! Good post.

sorry - computer has mind of its own today
While I think puppy mills should be regulated and inspected, my dog is from a pet store (and probably a mill), and I’ve been very happy to have her here.
That is so sad!!!!
