California Considers Gun Show Ban and "Animal Rights" Bill

Two anti-freedom bills have been scheduled for a hearing in Sacramento.

Senate Bill 585, introduced by State Senator Mark Leno (D-3), would prohibit the sale of firearms and ammunition on the property or inside the buildings that comprise the Cow Palace In short, SB585 is a stepping-stone to banning gun shows on an publicly-owned property in California. This bill will be heard in the Senate Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, April 14.

Senate Bill 250, sponsored by State Senator Dean Florez (D-16), would require that all dogs older than six months be spayed or neutered unless owners acquire an "unaltered" license. Even if you obtain an “unaltered” license you may still be required to spay or neuter your dog. An “unaltered” license may be denied or revoked for the most minor violations of local animal ordinances. Even the most conscientious and vigilant dog owners have had their dogs escape a home or fenced yard. If SB250 becomes law and animal control authorities impound the escaped dog, the owner will be required, with no exceptions, to spay or neuter the dog. This is but one example of the radical provisions within this overreaching legislation.

SB250 is scheduled to be considered by the Senate Local Government Committee on Wednesday, April 15. It is critical that dog owners voice their opposition.

SB250 is being pushed by radical animal “rights” and anti-hunting organizations and is an affront to our hunting heritage and private property rights. Owners who plan to breed their dogs at some point during their lives would be required to apply to the government for an "unaltered" license. The cost of the license is unspecified.

This legislation threatens to keep hunters and other dog owners from making decisions based upon their own personal circumstances. It would prevent hunters from continuing the tradition of occasionally breeding their favorite dog in order to provide other hunters with good dogs and defray some of the costs associated with caring for their animals. From a financial perspective, the bill discriminates against hunters with limited budgets.

Lemme guess - after gun shows on public property are banned, it’ll open up limitless possibilities for lawsuits against those who allow their private property to be used for gun sales.

Gads, liberals (er - progressives, er - those who cannot do anything useful in life) are so damned transparent.

Like California has the money to fight this to the SCOTUS, where they will be defeated on infringing U.S. Constitutional Rights. Good people need to leave California... while there is still time. One day... GOD’s wrath will be upon them.

The legislators in this country really need to take a time-out.

Solve one problem before solving the thousands that really aren’t problems.

Why doesn’t the Ca government just set up a hotline. Anytime anyone wants to do anything they can just call and beg for permission.

Last night ABC news had a hit piece on the “gun show loophole”. What they did was first admit that dealers were required to run a potential buyer through the background check. Then they sent a guy into a show with cash, then show him later with “more guns than I can carry” that he had bought without any background check being done. What they failed to tell the audience was that the only way that was true is if he bought them from individuals who had brought them to the show to sell. And that any law to close the so-called “gun show loophole” is only a law to prevent the sale of a gun between two private citizens.

But if they were to do as you suggest, then they wouldn’t be called Democrats. Issues of the day to them are just issues of the day. Once the day passes it’s on to the next issue. The only issues they seek to solve are those that harm Conservatives.

“California Considers Gun Show Ban and “Animal Rights” Bill”

Would that mean that I couldn’t own a gun but my dog could?

Good hunting or bird dogs are marvelous dogs and wonderful family pets. They are well trained to have manners, unlike the rowdy dogs one encounters in cities or suburbia. They don't jump on you, put their noses up your butt or bark like fools. In the field, they are all business and can make or break a hunt. Hunters regard their dog as a hunting buddy and the bond between the two is strong.

A lot of these wonderful dogs are bred by the owner who already has a trained female dog. It's a way to pass on good traits and not a business or puppy farm. The mother not only has the pups, but helps train them to hunt when they are ready. Making owners render their dogs sterile will not improve the breed and will make good hunting dogs much harder to get ready for the field.

In short, this law is anti hunter and not one that will carry on the best instincts of the dogs.

It means it is now illegal to shoot your own dog with your own gun. It is also now illegal to own a gun or own a dog. But yes, your dog can now own a gun, as long as he keeps it locked up.

Yeah, right....

Do Californians have ANY rights left? (I mean the American citizens in California, not the illegals.)

These are some of my "pet" peeves, and one reason I've almost come to hate dogs. I get tired of muddy paw prints on my clean clothes, and dogs I don't know coming up and licking me with the same tongue they lick their @$$ and b@!!$ with, refusing to back off even when you yell at them. Farm dogs do a lot of that, too.

I don't mind people having dogs, just don't let them slobber all over me and jump on me. Too many dog owners any more think it's cute or funny, just like they do with undisciplined children.

If they want to help animal rights, they should ban PETA. PETA has a 95% kill rate in their animal shelters. They kill adoptable pets by the thousands. Wonder if Pam Anderson or those other bubble heads in PETAs ads even know that. No they don’t. They have to get their hair and nails done, they have shopping to do, important stuff. They can’t be expected to know anything about the causes they think they are supporting. Geesh!

I seem to remember something called, "free assembly."

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I guess this is an instance where the First Amendment restrains the Federal government from enforcing the BOR, unlike pornography of course.
