Stung by the U.S. Supreme Court ruling last week denying a new trial for Mumia Abu-Jamal, supporters of the internationally known death-row inmate met yesterday at a church in West Philadelphia and said they planned to seek some type of presidential intervention on his behalf.
The gathering of about 50 people, led by MOVE member Pam Africa, began signing a petition to present to Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., asking for action in the 28-year-old case, in which Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner.
They also said they would ask Rep. Chaka Fattah to take their plea to President Obama and his wife, Michelle, both lawyers.

We are moving forward on our rally in Washington D C.
We are working non stop in preparations for this historical event to be held Sept 12-13 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial Reflections pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
As for the time, The million man march that took place a few years age took over 2 years to organize, we are trying to push this through as fast as we can.
To protest in DC you have to have a permit and have approval to use a certain piece of land.
We called ahead of filing for these things. September 12 &13 were the next available days they had.
The other organization, resistnet.com, which was putting together a march for May 30, didn’t do this so they were refused their permit. Now they are joining with our group. So, we are doing this absolutely as soon we can.
To have a successful march takes time and organization.
Why are we protesting ?
1. To get the attention of the mainstream media.
2. To demand That Obama Provide proof that he is eligible to be president.
3. To demand that Congress and the Supreme court uphold our constitution.
4. To inform the public on the issue of Obama’s ineligibility to be president of the USA.
5. To demand that they can not take our constitutional rights away.
PRESIDENT OBAMA, WE DEMAND THAT YOU BE TRANSPARENT NOW
We will come together in a peaceful rally.
We are proud Americans who fear that we are losing the America we all know and love.
The America where millions have served in our military sacrificing their lives so that we remain free.

Watch for Obama to appoint this guy to head some new department - perhaps he will become the “czar” in a new “Prisoner’s Council”...
These morons must think Obama is the freaking King.
About the only intervention TOTUS can pursue is try and get this cop killer POS a new trial, which is highly unlikely since this case has been scrutinized more closely then Sarah Palin and her family and found solid multiple times.
Abu-Jamal is not without his white supporters. The Hollywood left has been active in his behalf and will doubtless bankroll this latest effort.
Of course, most of Abu-Jamal's white supporters are ashamed of being white.
Given their 'druthers, they'd rather buy some pigment than a clue...
For anybody who might be wondering why the President's unlimited power of pardon isn't applicable, murder is not a federal crime (unless of a federal official or committed on federal property). Obama has no jurisdiction.
Another good reason for the 10th Amendment and state's rights.
