Would it make any difference if she was not a Catholic?
I seem to remember some article where he said that his wife would not be going to heaven because she was not a Catholic.

It wouldn't matter what faith his girlfriend practiced, if he begins a sexual relationship with any other woman, he will be barred from receiving communion.

To be honest, he does not follow the teachings of the current Pope and has denied Vatican II, so he is pretty much not in communion with the Catholic Church anyway.

As for his wife(I think she is a Lutheran?) not going to heaven, as a so called Catholic, it is not for him to say that. As a Catholic, we are taught that God is indeed merciful, and that he takes all things into consideration in regards to who goes to Heaven or hell. If she was never taught the Catholic faith, she cannot be expected to live according to the teachings of the church. That was really up to Mel to teach her. He is in much worse shape than her in my opinion. How do you bring someone around to your teachings if you are a heavy drinker, carouser and now an adulterer.

Just my opinion though.
