Since the origin of firearms, some hundreds of millions of people have been killed by firearm violence, but in any ten-second period of time in America, there is only about one successful self-defensive use of a firearm.

This is a 100,000,000:1 ratio!!

It is not clear what you are arguing here. By your numbers you get 3,153,600 successful gun uses annually in America.

Now if you go with a start date of 1778 for America you cannot apply all the gun deaths in the world to America. You'd have to limit them to America both by place and time.

Furthermore, you'd have to leave out gun deaths on American soil due to wars or suicide.

It could be her misguided opinion,...

Sawyer?

Is there any question if it's misguided?

Diane Sawyer, like most liberalidiots, has her head up her ass.

At EVERY opportunity, from now on, we need to take the offensive and loudly but calmly tell them to stick their “significant studies” up their ass. My RIGHT to defend my life and the lives of those innocents around me does NOT depend on the outcome of “significant studies”, “focus groups”, nor anything or anyone else’s good graces, whims, laws, or moods.

As long as WE let the enemy (and that is what they are, like or not – the enemy) control the dialogue, they will win. Anyone who sides with the liberalidiots is the enemy of your liberty and freedom. I have ended quite a few so-called “friendships” over the gun discussion (and basic conservative values), and I don’t consider them a loss at all. They are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

At every discussion, every opportunity where the subject comes up, be bold, direct, and ask those who would disarm you either actively or passively by ignorance – “If YOU value YOUR life so little that you won’t take a simple precaution like arming up to protect it, how can you reasonably ask someone to risk THEIR life in your defense (like a cop). And consequently, what happens when someone else has life and death power over you and your children because YOU won’t do anything to stop it (be it a civilian thug or a governmental agency thug?)

That’s just the way it is. We didn’t start this – they did. I’m sick of their specious and ridiculous argument.

Self-defense is a BASIC Human, Civil, and Constitutional right. I will NEVER give it up.

We’re at war, gentlemen. We need to remember that. Three kinds of people in society…sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We all need to decide what we are.

Woof, woof, woof, Bang….

I was trying to see how many gun-grabbing fallacies I could collect into one short post: comparing all of history with ten seconds, (the article compares ten years with one year), comparing the whole world with America only, and comparing deaths for all reasons (including legal reasons) with only defensive gun uses. The comparison is meant to be so unfair and so slanted that even a gun grabber could recognize the comparisons as flawed.

Good for you. Time to let the liberal air heads get a taste of some consequence for their inanity.

I try to ascertain the politics of shop owners and trade people before I will do business with them. When one of them fesses up to being a demrat I walk away. I had one of these idiots chase me out onto the sidewalk and shout that I could not discriminate on the basis of his politics. I just smiled and said watch me. Man, that guy was one angry dude.

I use different ploys to elicit a response. Since The Usurper, Onada, finagled his way into the WH I’ll say something to the effect that isn’t “our new president doing a wonderful job”. Or, I’ll ask how the person I’m talking to likes the country’s lurch to socialism. I might also ask if the person thinks the Stimulus Package will do any good. I keep my politics out of the question by asking it straight.

The large majority of people I query indicate they did not vote for The Marxist Onada and/or bail outs are a waste of tax payer money. Makes me wonder how the empty suit got elected.

Why would a government want to disarm its own people when the armed citizen is an ally of law enforcement and is supported by public policy and interest in more than 48 states?

I don’t know if I’d say better. The meaning is very clear..and can’t be repeated enough!

I love reading well thought out posts like yours. Making a person think about truisms is the first step to protecting our freedoms.

I watched about 15 minutes of that garbage they called information. Had to turn it off after they failed to stay on topic and started down the inevitable path of anti-gun.

A major reason the college kids did so poorly was the dress they called a t-shirt they were wearing. About 2-3 sizes too large and made it damn near impossible and quite awkward to gain access to the weapon they were using. The shirt hem(?) was at least 12 inches below their weapon.

In the real world an armed citizen would know to have clear, unhindered access to their weapon.

When milli-seconds count....
