Political ping
"The White House has distanced itself from the analysis. When asked for comment on its contents, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said, "The President is focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins."
Unless they are radicalized Muslims from, say, Michigan. Then we don't care. Because, you know, they aren't "WHITE power malitias".
Plus -- Allegra confirms the "crowd-picking" story -- and she is there!
You know what all this outrage comes down to? We lost and elections matter.
Instead of ranting and raving like paranoid schizophrenic lunatics that think their every right is being infringed upon, how about we instead rewrite the Republican platform, become the party of successful ideas, run a grass roots effort with this platform as a backbone like 1994 and get some damn Republican victories in 2010 and 2012.
We lost and it is supposed to sting like a b$tch and piss us off but I hate how it makes loonies out of some people.
If Obama signed the Patriot Act instead of Bush, I can guarantee the threads here would be lit up with “end of the world” scenarios. I know because the DUmmies were the outsiders then and they ranted and raved with paranoia and silliness identical to this thread.
Lets not confuse losing an election with the imminent threat of tyranny. I heard this same stuff during the Clinton years when Janet Reno’s storm troopers, funded by Mena Airport drug money, were going to coral all of us up and send us to the Amtrak concentration camp in Beech Grove, IN.
Until an actuall constitutional right is seen to be infringed and deemed so by our courts, lets all just calm down and look at Obama political moves with sober eyes.
In the meantime, lets concentrate on redifining our platform and win some damn elections next time around.
Whoa, can’t say much for your intellect given that answer, jack.
Absolutely .... they can’t hide all the truth from us, although they’re working hard to conceal as much as possible.
The candid contrast from the troops between the two is stark.
God bless and protect our awesome military.
(2nd link doesn’t work ... ;)
And so much more I’m sure, about which we’re in the dark.
“No rights are being trounced here, just an advisement of prudent foresight and proactive measures.”
You make it all seem so reasonable, but what you are forgetting is that the nuts they are on the lookout for are what the government has labelled as “rightwing extremists” as though these white supremacists and violent antigovernment idiots are somehow more likely to be rightwing than leftwing. They are only crazies; they don’t deserve a political label.
These labels are dangerous because they help to convince the public that those of a certain political orientation (i.e., “rightwing”) are more likely to be dangerous than other political orientations, and thus are deserving of being investigated, locked away, shot, etc...I’m convinced this is the left’s plot—lock up all the real patriots in America, the rightwing, under the guise of national security.
??? You seriously did not think this was gonna be the process?
The very day homeland security became a department of government...it was a given this was going to take place.
???
You did not consider this from day one? Hai...
The Federalist Papers are the new “Turner Diaries”.
(U) Key Findings
(U//LES) The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific information that domestic rightwing* terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues.
The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment.
(U//LES) Threats from white supremacist and violent antigovernment groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry
out violent acts.
Nevertheless, the consequences of a prolonged economic
downturnincluding real estate foreclosures, unemployment, and an inability to obtain creditcould create a fertile recruiting environment for rightwing extremists and even result in confrontations between such groups and
government authorities similar to those in the past.
(U//LES) Rightwing extremists have capitalized on the election of the first African American president, and are focusing their efforts to recruit new members, mobilize existing supporters, and broaden their scope and appeal
through propaganda, but they have not yet turned to attack planning.
(U//FOUO) The current economic and political climate has some similarities to the 1990s when rightwing extremism experienced a resurgence fueled largely by an economic recession, criticism about the outsourcing of jobs, and the perceived threat to U.S. power and sovereignty by other foreign powers.
(U//FOUO) During the 1990s, these issues contributed to the growth in the number of domestic rightwing terrorist and extremist groups and an increase in violent acts targeting government facilities, law enforcement officers, banks, and infrastructure sectors.
(U//FOUO) Growth of these groups subsided in reaction to increased government scrutiny as a result of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and disrupted plots, improvements in the economy, and the continued U.S. standing
as the preeminent world power.
(U//FOUO) The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities
could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.
* (U) Rightwing extremism in the United States can be roadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely.
It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.
(U//FOUO) Proposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans likely would attract new members into the ranks of rightwing extremist groups, as well as potentially spur some of them to begin planning and training for
violence against the government.
The high volume of purchases (((7 million since November ‘08))) and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary
concern to law enforcement.
(U//FOUO) Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to
boost their violent capabilities.

I supposed that occupation of our White House by a fraud who refuses to prove that he is Constitutionally qualified to be there is not considered by you to be an infringement of your "actuall constitutional right"s...
Wait -- I see: if the courts aid and abet the covrerup, then all is fine with you...
P.T. Barnum was right!
Were Code Pinko, ANSWER, NION, Global Exchange, the so-called "peace and justice" gangs et al put on government watch lists?
As I recall they were given the keys to any city they chose. With no permits or prior requests the police would shut down streets and intersections so they could march unbothered by motorists. They could throw rocks, bricks and paint bombs destroying private and public property with impunity, as SWAT teams stood by covered in red paint from the paint bombs and watching and doing nothing.
Silly people. No paper purchases are the only way to go.
WOW! The entirety of page 2 is simply ridiculous. They have no clue, or are purposely misdiagnosing the problem.
In light of how they have ignored the destruction of the Constitution by allowing this poe to move into the people's house with no credentials, my guess is they will not deal with it at all. We no longer have a functioning Constitution, therefore, no Constitutional freedoms.

And what if he was white? Is it bad to be white? Is it evil to be white? What if 99% of the Tea Partiers are white? SO WHAT???????????
From the first paragraph and DHS's memo: . . . "warning law enforcement officials about a rise in 'rightwing extremist activity', saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias."
It's the DHS making race an issue, not us. Seems to me that they are saying if you are white and you don't love zero, you're a extremist racist. Does that answer your question?
“Extremist” is a derogatory way to scare people. obozo & his 1st 100 as well as the 2nd 100 days in office is a perfect recruiting tool. His actions speak louder than words. People DON’T like obozo.
Geez, calm down!
I was just reacting to what the Department of Homeland Security said in their smear of conservatives and in particular, in regards to their comments on militias, in which the DHS claimed they were all a bunch of “white supremacists,” in their words. Just wanted to point out that people who are opposed to the encroachment of our rights at the hands of big government come in all colors.
