all the way down to 120 years (which God capped as the maximum age...whether that is an absolute or an average, I do not know). It is neither. The average life span is less than 100 years and the maximum is greater than 120! Your bible must be in error.

After we sinned in the Garden of Eden, we immediately began to degenerate and die. Plus, our life expectancy steadily decreased from Adam (who died at just under 1,000 years old), all the way down to 120 years I think you are misinterpreting the bible. Several are listed as living longer than Adam so your statement about 'immediately began to degenerate does not correlate. Also, if Adam began to immediately degenerate how did he manage to live to 930?

I said maximum. And from what I have heard, the absolute maximum is right around 120 years, whereas the average keeps going up with improved living standards. Whatever the maximum has to do with, it is remarkable that God picked a 120 year maximum thousands of years ago, during a time when the Evos assume that our life expectancy was much, much lower.

I will have to give this some serious thought ...

You are correct, there was a bit of a wobble just after Adam, but after that there was a steady decline. And the fact that Adam died at all means he degenerated, as per the curse in Genesis.

Apparently there is something else going on. Most of these guys didn’t sire till after they were over 100 yo. Why did they not reach sexual maturity till after 100?

If it never rained until the flood, how did the crops and trees get their water?

What I mean is, that when the odds against something reach a certain level, a competent mathematician will tell you that the history and material basis of the universe are not sufficient for it to have ever happened. The odds are millions to one against me winning the lottery. Therefore (as a math major, LOL!) no one ever wins the lottery.

Apparently there is something else going on [re ages]. A friend of mine has taken an interest in biblical numbers as having a code meaning, as a means of communicating while in captivity of Babylonians or Romans. Perhaps there is a code meaning for those great ages.

Still no answer to the question.
