Apparently, Rendell never heard about the "Death Run" that deer do when they get shot. Once you shoot them critters, adrenaline enables them to run another 100 or so yards before falling. Sometimes they get away into the woods. So, in the immortal words of Samuel L. Jackson from "Jackson Brown" -
