CNBC Allows Santelli to React to Tea Parties: 'I'm Pretty Proud of This'
NewsBusters ^ | April 15, 2009 | Jeff Poor

While Fox News has celebrated the Taxpayer Tea Party rallies and MSNBC has denigrated them, the impetus of the movement - CNBC and specifically Rick Santelli, its inspiration - had been conspicuously quiet about it.

But on CNBC's "Squawk Box" April 15, co-host Joe Kernen asked Santelli what he thought of being a "cultural phenomenon." That was the same show Santelli famously called out President Barack Obama for the unfairness of his housing bailout proposal on Feb. 19.

"A lot of articles about these tea parties," Kernen said. "They all have your name in them, like you caused it. Are you actually attending any or are you just sort of got the idea going initially? What do you think? I mean, you're like a cultural phenomenon at this point."

Don’t look into too deep...CNBC is probably banking that this will be a bust. They’ll have a camera crew in Harlem saying “No one showed up for the tea Party...see, the President is correct”.

The TEA parties are a solid start. But we have to follow up by having “Push Back Until” events later this year, early next year, and for as long as we have to: http://pushbackuntil.com.

It will not be easy, but how interested are we in saving our country from an irresponsible Congress?

“Be in D.C. to Push Back Until!”

Watch the “proud” talk, Rick.

On a related note, it’s revealing that CNN doesn’t have a single word on their website about the tax-day protests. They do, on the other hand, have one of their I-Reports from a man who believes it’s “Un-American” not to want to pay taxes.

I doubt it. Fox Business is terrible. They need to fix it fast.

CNBC is ok, with the exception of Steve Liesman, who is a tool of Obama and such a snob

The problem I have with CNBC is their consistent pumping of the stock market. They could have ten negative facts and one positive bit of news and all they talk about is the positive. Rationalizing why the market will go up as if that is the only way that is good.

Mark Haynes and Erin Burnett are great.

Did I say Steve Liesman was terrible?

This is the thing I don’t understand about the whole Rick Santelli thing - a lot of people had been talking about tea parties and mailing tea to their representatives, etc. prior to his blowup on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade. Santelli was just the one who had the nerve to say it to the face of the enemy: the complicit Obama Media. So while I credit him for having the cojones to speak out, the Tea Party certainly wasn’t his idea.

The most ironic thing is Rick Santelli stands in the pit where Fed Futures are traded, and the WH went after him like he is the enemy of the US. He has been vocally against the bailouts since the Bush era a few months back, but Obama-nuts can have no disagreement at all.

Really? CNBC is far from liberal. Most of the hosts seem to be conservative in fact.

I’d give FBN a try but my cable system doesn’t carry it in HD, and frankly I’ve become an HD snob.

If he needs permission to speak his mind, I think it’s time to search for a new network.

Find me a tax payer in Harlem and I will show you a REAL minority.

Meanwhile I drove downtown on my lunch break and the Cincinnati Tea Party absolutely PACKED Fountain Square.
