Despite the recent gains made in the debt limit negotiations, there is no amount of debt-shuffling that doesn't leave taxpayers footing the bill for Washington's spending problem. In its annual Cost of Government Day report, Americans for Tax Reform Foundation calculated that Americans worked until August 12 this year to pay for the full costs of government spending and regulation. The 'Cost of Government Day' report determines the day of the year on which the average Americans has made enough income to pay off the local, state and federal regulatory and spending burdens. This year, Americans work a full 224...

Every year, Americans for Tax Reform Foundation publishes its Cost of Government Day report, which calculates the day on the calendar year until which the average American must work to pay for the full costs of government spending and regulation. The study is available online at www.CostOfGovernmentDay.com “Highlights” of the report are as follows: Overall government burden: This year, Cost of Government Day falls on August 12, meaning Americans labor a full 224 days into the year to pay for local, state and federal government spending and regulations. Impact of Obama overspending: Americans have lost 29 days of the calendar...

On Monday (tax day!) Rush spent a good portion of the show talking about Obama's economically-illiterate and ideology-driven "tax the rich" speech as well as the DBF* media's equally illiterate and ideological tax day coverage, such as that from dinosaur left-wing propagandists Bob Schieffer and Christiane Amanpour Rush then lays out the facts about the distribution of income tax payment in the United States. Most important is his conclusion: The reason Obama and the hard left that have taken over the Democrat Party are so hell-bent on raising taxes on "the rich" is not to balance the budget, not to...

PROVIDENCE — Tax Day rallies around Kennedy Plaza, one during lunch and the other at rush hour, drew some of the same participants and aired similar themes: that hard-working Americans pay more than their fair share of taxes. Protesters who started gathering at 12:15 p.m. at the statue of Ambrose Burnside warmed up by chanting “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Wall Street greed has got to go,” and “I pay, you pay, why doesn’t Bank of America pay?” Christopher Currie, the Rhode Island coordinator for MoveOn.org, called on corporations “to do the right thing” during “these difficult economic times, when Americans...

Song of the Week #183 by George Harrison Today is Tax Day in America. It's supposed to be April 15th, but because April 16th is Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia and because April 16th fell on a Saturday, the observance of Emancipation Day was moved to Friday April 15th, which meant that federal employees were given the day off, so Tax Day was moved to Monday April 18th. If you follow that, you're a better man than I. After all, very few taxpayers live in the District of Columbia, so who's at work on the day you mail...

In a study published last week by the Laffer Center, my colleagues Wayne Winegarden, John Childs and I estimate that these costs alone are a staggering $431 billion annually. This is a cost markup of 30 cents on every dollar paid in taxes. And this is not even a complete accounting of the costs of tax complexity.

These are links I have posted to a Twitter account as I followed the Tax Day Tea Party on the Internet. I will be deleting these links from the Twitter account and adding them here on FreeRepublic.com. Please feel free to add your own Tax Day Tea Party articles, links, summaries and I will add some more here as I find them. Thank you. Cindy

The battle lines have been drawn and it could get ugly. It’s one thing to tax millionaires, it’s another to go after deductions. Another third rail? Two days ago the President raised the specter of tax increases to cut the deficit. Actually he coined a new euphemism for that, “tax code expenditures.” Honestly, I have no idea where that came from. But even half asleep, I caught on the second time he said it. And he called them “cuts”. Damn, this guy is good. But the real money line comes at the end where he takes a whack at deductions....

Friday, April 15 · 4:00pm - 6:30pm This event is being organized, assisted, and supported by local Conservatives, Tea Party, GOP, Democrats, Independents, 9/12 Project, and other local Grass roots organizations in Broward County. Just like the last two years we will meet April 15, 2011 at 4 PM to dusk to VOICE our disapproval of the current tax rates, crazy Gov. spending, and the national debt we were all forced into. Please bring a sign, flag, bull horn and be respectful to those around you. Civility is what separates us from the animals :-D When you leave please pick...

Will Colorado’s Democrat governor, John Hickenlooper attend and address the 3rd Annual Denver Tax Day Tea Party? Not likely. However, he has been invited to do just that.

The speakers list for the 3rd Annual Tax Day Tea Party has been updated for those who are interested.

This is a call out to all those having or planning Tax Day Tea Parties. As we know, on April 4th, the Unions, Socialists, communists, extremist Islamic elements, antiwar groups, and other leftist groups are holding a rally to spit on reform and at America. We must have a strong response on the 15th to show America that the silent majority is NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.
-
While we may have sent a message on November 2nd 2010, from the voting booth, it s is clear some in the Colorado capitol and some in Washington DC have not gotten the message, or have chosen to ignore it. In recent weeks it has become clear that organizations such as SEIU and the various Union leadership not only reject our message, but seek to counter that message and to silence us. Let us stand together once again and remind our government and organizations like SEIU, that we have not gone away and we will not go away. They have...

So excited my picture made the front page of the New Paltz Times, I barely noticed the article to go with the photograph, written by Mike Townshend. Thanks to Pam O’Dell of GardinersRight I addressed a tea party crowd on Tax Day last week and the New Paltz Times (or maybe I should say “Slimes”) covering the story, placed me left center with a nice caption: “Raquel Okyay of Wallkill speaks passionately of her position on health care reform at last week’s tax day Tea Party in Gardiner”. When I would later read the article completely, I realized that the...

On a gray and breezy Thursday evening, approximately 150 people came to the intersection of Route 44/55 and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to hold signs, hear speakers and chant slogans. "No to Progressivism," read one sign. "Stimu-Less," "Anti-Socialism," and "We the People will never bow to Tyranny," read others. A young man standing in the crowd wore a black T-shirt with a small picture of an American flag, with a caption reading "R.I.P., The American Dream." The crowd of Tea Party sympathizers came out on April 15, tax day, to protest government spending and waste. "We're tired of the...

VIDEO: On April 15, 2010, I had the pleasure to speak at the Tax-Day Tea Party in Bellevue, WA. I would estimate the crowd, only a guess, to be around 500. While I'd always had followed politics, since the election of Ronald Reagan, I'd never attended a political event prior to the Seattle Tea Party (known to be the first!),last February....

On April 15th I decided to head down to the local Tax Day Tea Party after work and officially be one of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who decided to express their displeasure with the corrupt cabal currently in charge of Washington D.C on that day. Armed with my fresh from ebay Don’t Tread On Me First Naval Jack flag (always a big hit) I joined several hundred of my fellow patriotic citizens (the Coloradoan says 1500) in Washington Park to spend the next couple of hours listening to a wide variety of speakers and candidates hold court with...

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.” — Mahatma Gandhi I hadn’t planned on attending the Tax Day Tea Party event in Oceanside, California Thursday morning when I woke up, but I spent my evening there anyway. The event was well organized by a group called “Stop Taxing Us” who said that there were about 3,500 in attendance. After I saw what time the rally was to be held, the location, and the speakers they had lined up, I knew I couldn’t resist. So after work I jumped in the car and...

Happy Tax Day! It's the DUmmies' favorite holiday (next to May Day). Of course, in "Tea Parties" all across our land, overtaxed Americans have been rallying AGAINST oppressive, intrusive Big Government. But that's not for the DUmmies. Like vampires drawn to blood, liberals rely on the taxes paid by others to support their socialist wealth-redistribution schemes and scams. But surely you would think that in Massachusetts, in Boston, in the Cradle of Liberty, in the HOME of the ORIGINAL Tea Party, all the citizenry would rise up as one, fused in patriotic fervor against the taxing tyrants on the...

Even in the best of times Tax Day stinks, but this Tax day is worse than most. The economy remains in the pits, spending has skyrocketed, taxes have gone up, and it seems as if with each passing day the American voter's voice in how those tax dollars are being spent, diminishes. That's the good news, the bad news is that next year's tax burden will be worse. "I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax,...

Searching for liberal liberals James F. Davis, April 15, 2010 The mainstream liberal media has been trying to marginalize and isolate ‘Tea Party’ groups as hateful violent people. By mainstream liberal media, I am referring to ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, CNN Headline News, MSNBC, Newsweek, Time, U.S. News & World Report, the New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today and more than 90% of the newspapers, magazines, TV stations and political Internet sites in the United States. According to a firm that took aerial photos of the September 12, 2009 Tea Party protest, approximately 1,700,000 demonstrated against our government...

Today, Tax Day, I sent this email to my rep: Mr. Hodes, On this Tax Day, April 15th in the Year of Our Lord, 2010, I want to express my enthusiasm for the forthcoming midterm elections where I will enthusiastically vote for your permanent retirement from government "service". You have successfully avoided representing my interests for the past two years, mindlessly parroting the orders of Ms Pelosi, voting to destroy the health system and the economy and undermining the safety of this Blessed Nation. I hope you shuffle off into the dustbin of history with your head hung in shame...

... and made more than half the country drink, so he could have Obamacare, with half the burden. But some people refused to drink. Tight-lipped against his noxious potion but big-mouthed against his ruinous agenda, they assembled, first on April 15, 2009. And there were many.

After candidates complain to organizers, Orly Taitz's speaking engagement is withdrawn. Taitz has been a leading voice in the discredited 'birther' movement. (snip) One candidate threatened to withdraw from the event before Tuesday's decision to uninvite Taitz. John Dennis, who is running for the Republican nomination to oppose House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco, said he would not appear on the same stage as Taitz. "The presence of a discredited publicity seeker on the same platform with patriotic Americans distorts the focus of our movement, distracts from our common message and gives ammunition to those who continue to question...

Until 1913 it was unconstitutional for Congress to tax the income of Americans. Our founding fathers warned that if ever Congress acquired the power to tax the income of Americans, it would lead to the destruction of our Republic. They knew that letting Congress have control of our income would lead to a government more tyrannical than that of King George.

Two days remain until Tax Day, when the post office will weather a windfall of last-minute tax forms and cities across the nation will witness the ill wind that is the Tea Party Pretenders. And it blows no good. Local Tea Partiers will rally in Hamilton on April 15, doing their best to put the bitter in the Bitterroot. They will raise the flag and tout the Constitution, calling themselves “patriots.” In protesting taxes, they are anything but. Vice President Joe Biden called it right: Paying taxes is patriotic. Yes, shelling out a few more bucks can feel painful, but...

Really, it was only a matter of time before the anarchists realized that their number was up in the Left’s quiet draft to raise an army to intimidate and oppose tea party activists. A web site called Infoshop News – described on its banner as offering “anarchist news, opinion and much more” – is issuing a rallying cry to its readers to begin organizing aggressive counterdemonstrations to pushback against a tea party movement that growing across the country. Specifically, Infoshop News is signaling that April 15 protests will be a major focus of their efforts, a day when tea parties...

What a sad day...This left wing hack posing as a reporter is out at CNN..

Breaking: TVNewser has learned CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen's contract will not be renewed and she will be leaving the network. Roesgen, you'll recall, was criticized for her coverage at the tax day tea parties in April, when she said the event she was covering in Chicago was, "anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing, conservative network Fox." Roesgen took a break for a few weeks after that reporting and returned to the air in May covering the Drew Peterson arrest. Most recently, she covered Michael Jackson's death from Los Angeles. Roesgen joined CNN in 2005.

Narcissist Obama rants and rationalizes big spending. Obaha inherited deficit (Bush did it),..blah, blah, blah,...so it wasn't me, it wasn't me, that wasn't me. Says a lot of Republican economists agree with him on the stimulus and banks (huh), Medicare and Medicaid are the problem. Unless we fix Health Care, we won't be able to solve Green Energy...We need to revise health care this year to drive down costs (huh)..."Folks waving Tea Bag around"...Tax Cuts didn't work (what)...Blah, Blah,...

I have spent most of my life trying to cut taxes. Back in 1977, while a staffer for Congressman Jack Kemp, I helped draft the Kemp-Roth tax bill, which was endorsed by Ronald Reagan and enacted into law in 1981. According to the Treasury Department, this is the largest tax cut in American history. So one might assume that I was out protesting taxes along with many of my friends on April 15. But going to rallies is not my thing; I thought my time and skills were better spent analyzing tax burdens to see what evidence justifies the sudden...

New footage revealing the defiance of a regular middle class woman against the CNN reporter...she asks the reporter..."are you trying to play stupid?" The reporter had been pretending that the tea protests were not widely circulated. I guess her propaganda angle was that you must have watch fox or been contacted by fox to know about the protests... Great day, let's keep these protests going...May 30th nationwide!!!

I was one of the Connecticut State Coordinators who lead and planned our Tax Day Tea Party. One of the topics they want to address is David Axelrod's comment that the tea party's are dangerous.

In all my years of watching news coverage in America, I don't believe I have ever witnessed more condescending, amateurish, purely politicized reporting than what just transpired among the liberal MSM covering America's Tax Day Tea Parties. The Tea Parties represented a very significant news event. Whenever close to 300,000 middle-class Americans put their productive lives on hold on a midweek workday, make original signs with their own hands, and travel miles and miles to stand with other private citizens just to demonstrate their anger with government, in more than 300 cities from coast to coast and everywhere in between,...

Depending on where you get your news, you may know a good bit about the tea parties held on April 15th and what they were all about. I doubt there is anyone that didn’t know about them (with the exception of President Obama…I’ll get to that later), but there may be plenty of people who have a horribly distorted view of the parties thanks to the purposeful and irresponsible misrepresentation on the part of the media and liberal commentators.

"Let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston Tea Party was about. They don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of tea-bagging rednecks. And there is no way around that... They are now dependent upon immigrant bashing, and hating the black guy in the White House. Will people act on that? It's not new, but Fox doesn't mind fomenting it. Michelle Bachman...
