PDT WASHINGTON (AP) --The Justice Department has reined in electronic surveillance by the National Security Agency after finding the agency had improperly accessed American phone calls and e-mails.
The problems were discovered during a review of the intelligence activities, the Justice Department said in a statement Wednesday night.
The New York Times, which first reported the matter on its Web site, said the NSA had been improperly intercepting communications by Americans...

And I’m sure the FBI is just chomping at the bit with eagerness to devote all its resources to potential abortion clinic bombers.

Ummm, I’m confused. Last I looked, NSA answered to the DCI not Justice.

The CIA reports into NSA. The Naval Security Group, Army Security Group and others also report into NSA. The National Security Agency is a clearing house which takes in all the various intel, discards some, files some and reconciles the rest. It then passes the priority stuff on up the line toward the President. It’s not only one agency.
