Sarah Palin: I Had to 'Walk the Walk' (talking about Trig's Down Syndrome Diagnosis)
ABC News ^ | April 17, 2009 | Kate Snow

Posted on 04/17/2009 8:09:31 AM PDT by lewisglad

In front of an audience of nearly 3,000 anti-abortion rights advocates in Evansville, Ind., Palin described in detail how she struggled with her fifth pregnancy last year and choked up when she spoke about Trig's birth.

"It was a time when I had to ask myself was I gonna walk the walk or I was gonna talk the talk," Palin said.

She said she learned she was pregnant with Trig while she was out of the state at an oil and gas conference.

"There, just for a fleeting moment, I thought, I knew, nobody knows me here. Nobody would ever know. I thought, wow, it is easy. It could be easy to think maybe of trying to change the circumstances. No one would know. No one would ever know."

Ultimately, Palin said she realized she had to stay true to what she'd been saying for years -- that "life is valuable because it is ordained."

"I had just enough faith to know that trying to change the circumstances wasn't any answer," Palin said.

But the governor said the experience gave her an appreciation for what women and girls facing unwanted pregnancies go through.

"I do understand what these women, what these girls go through in that thought process."

The Vanderburgh County "Freedom for Life" banquet bills itself as the largest anti-abortion rights event in the nation

It was the first time Palin has been to the lower 48 since attending Washington's Alfalfa Club dinner -- featuring Obama -- in late January.

"It drives Washington insiders crazy because they cannot predict what she's gonna do next," said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, an organization that supports women against abortion rights in politics.

Her ultimate decision embodies the statement that "character is doing the right thing, even if no one is watching."

She is a MUCH better speaker than ‘That One’, but you’ll never get anyone in the MSM to admit it.

Her conversational style must drive the pols wild. She starts off with this breezy, campaign talk, follows up with the political talking points, and then suddenly it is like you are in her living room and she is talking with you a few feet away, sharing a moment of personal decision in a way that just shouts sincerity. I don’t know if she will ever be president or even stay in politics, but, Dear Lord, is she a gift!

...an organization that supports women against abortion rights in politics.

Well, great to see that there's no bias there. (Must I use the /sarcasm thing?)

“The Vanderburgh County “Freedom for Life” banquet bills itself as the largest anti-abortion rights event in the nation”

If I may edit your comment: D*** LYING liberal reporter.

The Vanderburgh County “Freedom for Life” banquet does NOT bill itself as the largest anti-abortion rights event in the nation. It bills itself as the largest RIGHT TO LIFE banquet in the country.

It’s bad enough the msn will not refer to pro-life organizations as pro-life. But to mischaracterize what pro-life organizations call themselves is outright lying.

As a woman of a certain age, with a daughter Sarah Palin’s age who grew up in a similar world as she, everything I hear or read about Governor Palin just endears her more and more. She could be my daughter and my daughter could be her twin.

Palin and Bachmann in 2012 . . . it takes 2 women to clean the House and the Senate!

She is sincere. with John F. Kennedy style charisma. and such class and such beauty on top of that.

I was watching her speech, and it dawned on me. God is in control. He brought her to us for a reason. If it is his will, she will be President of the United States. We shouldn’t let the press get us down.

but I pray it is his will. because she is something special. you can just feel it when you are watching her speak.

I've never been a big fan of Sarah as future POTUS, but as governor, mom, and pro-life advocate - my hat's off to her for this speech!

God bless you, Sarah!

Jack Kennedy had glamour , not charisma. Obama has charisma, and so does Palin. It is my impression that Obama incites adoration , whereas Palin incites
affection.
