DALLAS A 26-year-old woman fatally shot a man who lived in her Red Bird apartment complex and broke into her unit Tuesday night, Dallas police said.
Two women were inside their apartment in the 8000 block of Leigh Ann Drive, which is just north of Danieldale Park and Interstate 20, when the 55-year-old man knocked on the door about 11 p.m, police said.
One of the women called police as the man tried to get inside, and the other woman shot him as he entered, causing him to stumble out the door and collapse in the grass, police said.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and took the intruder to Methodist Charlton Medical Center where he later died. The women, who did not know the man, were not injured, police said.
Dallas police Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse said the case will be referred to a grand jury.
No other details were immediately available.
Ugh...Red Bird That and Kiest Blvd are places you don’t want to be after dark.
“the other woman shot him as he entered”
In Texas, it doesn’t matter.
She shoots...SHE SCORES!
Need more info, though.
Ugh...Red Bird That and Kiest Blvd are places you dont want to be after dark.Gee, on Google Maps (street view) it looks like such a nice neighborhood ;-)
Why is it going to a grand jury?
Perhaps some smarmy police officer or DA intake in charge wants to try and get two for the money. There are (too) many LEO's that believe while they are worthless at crime prevention still believe the public has no right to defend themselves no matter what. Who knows. As already stated, not enough details.
....causing him to stumble out the door and collapse in the grass.....
Was he in the house?
Why is it going to a grand jury?
Not enough details but it may also be the way to clear the ladies of any criminal accusations even is none or brought.
That's what I call teamwork!
When someone is shot and killed, there has to be an investigation.
That's all.
Or Prince Hall Square Apartments on Ledbetter and Sunnyvale. Usually had a gunfight per evening.
Dallas grand juries are VERY understanding.
In Nevada if they are in your house just shoot em - no questions.
No, that isn’t it at all. That is normal. And this is Dallas. She will be fine.
Let's hope you're right.
Granted, it was way back in 1994 when I worked there. Things could have changed since. But back then we would have been high-fiving her. And getting a no-bill from a grand jury was routine.
Just a query because I truly don't know:
Does a no-bill hold the same weight as an acquittal, i.e., double-jeopardy applies?
I'm sure as responsible journalists they'd be very interested, and will update their anti-self-defense stories immediately.
