A woeful lack of details in this story. Did the intruder kick the door in?

“the other woman shot him as he entered”
In Texas, it doesn’t matter.

Gee, on Google Maps (street view) it looks like such a nice neighborhood ;-)

Why is it going to a grand jury?

Why is it going to a grand jury? Perhaps some smarmy police officer or DA intake in charge wants to try and get two for the money. There are (too) many LEO's that believe while they are worthless at crime prevention still believe the public has no right to defend themselves no matter what. Who knows. As already stated, not enough details.

Not enough details but it may also be the way to clear the ladies of any criminal accusations even is none or brought.

One of the women called police as the man tried to get inside, and the other woman shot him That's what I call teamwork!
To: CaptainK
Why is it going to a grand jury? When someone is shot and killed, there has to be an investigation.
That's all.
To: bert
the other woman shot him as he entered, causing him to stumble out the door and collapse in the grass, police said.

Or Prince Hall Square Apartments on Ledbetter and Sunnyvale. Usually had a gunfight per evening.

Dallas grand juries are VERY understanding.
To: marktwain
This must be a lie since ABC just told us you cannot defend yourself with a gun.
In Nevada if they are in your house just shoot em - no questions.

No, that isn’t it at all. That is normal. And this is Dallas. She will be fine.

Granted, it was way back in 1994 when I worked there. Things could have changed since. But back then we would have been high-fiving her. And getting a no-bill from a grand jury was routine.
To: Larry Lucido
And getting a no-bill from a grand jury was routine.Just a query because I truly don't know:
Does a no-bill hold the same weight as an acquittal, i.e., double-jeopardy applies?

Anybody forward this story to CBS?
I'm sure as responsible journalists they'd be very interested, and will update their anti-self-defense stories immediately.
