Obama's Campaign paid $688,000 to attorney who threatened sanctions in eligibility lawsuit

Obama's Campaign paid $688,000 THIS YEAR to attorney who threatened sanctions in eligibility lawsuit

In a report filed Wednesday, April 15, Obama for America, the group that collected over $850 million in campaign contributions for Obama, spent nearly $9.5 million in the first three months of this year, including included $688,000 in legal fees to the firm of Robert J Bauer. Bauer is the same attorney who send a letter to attorney John Hemenway threatening him with sanctions, including costs, expenses, and attorney’s fees, if he did not withdraw his appeal on Hollister v. Soetoro, No. 08-2254. citing the disgusting comments made by Judge Robertson that Obama's eligibility had been "blogged, texted, twittered, and otherwise massaged by America's vigilant citizenry."

Last year, the entire media crucified Sarah Palin and the Republican party for spending $150,000 on the VP candidate's wardrobe which is less than the Obama Campaign spent on credit card fees in February and March of THIS YEAR. Yet, the most egregious spending of campaign finances has to be the $688k in legal fees to attorney Bob Bauer for abusing the court system and threatening citizens for exercizing their Constitution rights. As first published in World Net Daily, here is a copy of the letter sent by Obama's attorney, Robert Bauer, to John Hememway.

The American public is totally unaware of these violations of the Constitution and campaign financing laws, the misuse of campaign contributions and the failure to identify Obama's donors, as well as the abuse of power by Obama and his legal bullies. The media refuse to cover these issues as they continue to enable a usurper, who knows that he is not a natural-born US citizen or even a naturalized citizen, to illgally occupy the office of President.

We are witnessing massive fraud on a national level where Obama's aplogists in the media and the American public are willing participants.

I don’t understand this......Hospital workers rifled through the Octomom’s personal records. State officials dug up everything they could on Joe the Plumber. Where are these people in Hawaii or Kenya??

Alright I’ll throw down the cabbage. 10 MILLION REWARD OFFERED TO ANYBODY WHO COMES UP WITH AUTHENTIC DOCUMENTATION ON BARRY SOETORO OR BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. Where he was born and any other paperwork that would shed light on this Usurper.....

There is now enough to start impeachment hearings.

Not on the BC issue but on issues such as: informing the enemy of our tactics, using the federal government to quite opposition via the DHS Report.

Kenyaw’ii.

Is that the 57th state?

I don't know though, I think I'm putting my faith in the Official Document shown. It's signed by two doctors and stuff.

This just keeps getting better.

Giggles is definitely not a natural-born citizen and since is supposedly a constitutional scholar. It illustrates at best, towering incompetance and at worst, outright fraud and sedition.

Patriots of all stripes should bring more suits, drain Obama’s coffers and clog the legal system until we get satisfaction.

The district judge in the case, James Robertson, also had suggested sanctions against Hemenway. But Robertson quickly backed away when Hemenway noted the judge had cited hearsay in his ruling.  Hemenway argued that if he was going to be penalized, he was eligible to a discovery hearing in which he could see documentation of what the judge cited as fact.

Well that sucks.  Too bad Hemenway discussed eligibility for discovery, base on hearsay, which the judge decided was a fact.

If Hemenway had just taken the sanction hearing, without telling the judge, about his rights, then we would be "game on"

Darn it, Darn it, Darn it!

“the most egregious spending of campaign finances has to be the $688k in legal fees to attorney Bob Bauer for abusing the court system and threatening citizens for exercizing their Constitution rights.”

I’m sure Obama views this as one of his better investments. The birth certificate lawsuits have gone nowhere.

I will echo an earlier poster in wondering: is this a legal use of campaign contributions? First, given that Obama didn’t spend all of his often ill-gotten campaign contributions, is he really allowed to use the surplus as a big slush fund to ward off political criticism during his entire first term?

Second, aren’t the birth certificate lawsuits personal lawsuits aimed at Obama? Are campaign contributions allowed to be used to defend against such suits? As an example, if Obama got a speeding ticket, could campaign contributions be used on his legal defense or to pay his fine? Or to make a more “political” connection: if Obama ever were indicted by Fitzgerald on political corruption charges, could his campaign fund be used to defend against that? That seems bizarre.

1Can you provide the link to the report which states the amount paid of $688k for an attorney and what it was actually for?

I have four references with links that I listed at the bottom of my repor, under the heading Sources: Click on the link from Politico, "Obama campaign still funds operations."

Hot damn!!! Reference time for all the Freepers who did the “Where’s your proof!” crap at the claim of spending “hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees to fight showing his birth certificate”.

And for the other Freepers who want to say “How could Obama afford that?” Uhhh, I guess he doesn’t. Apparently campaign money is now eligible to be spent to FIGHT showing you are eligible to be POTUS.

I don’t see what the holdup is on Obama cooperating with this request. He is either Constitutionally eligible or he is not, the MSM bias notwithstanding. IF anyone is hurt financially by their efforts to make him man-up, then citizens who care for the Constitution would just have to also stand and deliver to help those who stood in the gap, trying to do the right thing. If Obama gets by with intimidation, it will embolden him.

Legally, Bauer doesn't have a leg to stand on. He cannot threaten sanctions against Hememway and cannot collect attorney's fees and legal costs since Bauer did not request a Motion to Dismiss on the basis that the lawsuit was frivolous, nor did he ask for attorney's fees and costs.

The case was tossed by Judge Robertson so no ruling was ever made on Bauer's Motion. But Hememway should press for Bauer's disbarment based on Bauer's extortion threat or, at a minimum have him recused from any further involvement.

I agree that Hememway should have kept quiet and file the appeal.
