Gunman ‘holds up Jamaica plane’
A man is holding a number of hostages on board a plane in the Jamaican resort of Montego Bay, reports say.
The man reportedly breached security systems using fake ID and boarded the plane as it was preparing to take off at around 2230 local time (0430 GMT).
There are unconfirmed reports that a shot has been fired on board the Canada-bound charter plane. The gunman is said to have robbed passengers.
A reporter with Radio Jamaica told CNN that officials on the Caribbean island would not confirm reports that the pilot of the plane scheduled to fly to Canada had been shot and killed.
It’s probably a Quaker.
If you're thinking of taking a cruise and one of the stops is Jamaica, pick another itinerary or a different cruise line.
You can constantly feel revolution in the air there. The poverty is appalling. The men are sullen. Begging children besiege you as you walk. Some try to sell drugs or their sisters. Police in colorful uniforms patrol on horseback around the cruise ports.
Caribbean islands affiliated with Americans, British and Dutch offer comparatively safe and pleasant alternatives to visit.

Hijacking over.
Jamaica spokesman took lessons from Baghdad Bob.
His comments were laughable. Oh, it’s nothing, could happen anywhere in the world. blah blah blah. After all, the hijacker is from around here and is known.
Mormon kidnappers? Or maybe Mennonites?
I was once in Moatego Bay on a cruise ship, and we left two passengers behind — arrested on the dock on drug charges.
Scuttlebutt had it that their cabbie turned them in to get a reward.
Spent the rest of the time on the beach drinking, reading, swimming, etc.
Also, the golf was outstanding...some gorgeous holes along the beach and then even prettier holes up in the mountains (even saw Johnny Cash's house on one of the mountain holes).
