Doing the violent acts to get drugs is already illegal, because you are harming someone else. But as long as you are just doing something to your own body, what business is it to the government? I am opposed to the drug war, because it is just another thing that gives the government more and more power. If you are found with too much money on you, thanks to the asset forfeiture law, it can be taken from you without any charges against you, and it is nearly impossible to get back. So which do I feel more threatened by: A guy in his room smoking a joint? Or a government that will trample on the Constitution in order to stop a guy from smoking a joint in his room? I feel the same about it as I do about thought crimes. Murder, theft, rape, and assault are already illegal. Murder, theft, rape, and assault should not be more illegal just because the crime is motivated by race, ect. Violent acts to satisfy dependency to drugs would still be illegal.
The alternative to drugs would not be a nation full of stoners. It would be a nation that didn’t waste it’s time and money stopping me from putting something into my body just because they didn’t like it. I guess it just comes down to one question: Who owns you?
I’ll close this with one question... Have you ever heard of anyone that said “I really want to smoke some pot. But it is illegal, so I won’t.” The people that want to do drugs are going to do them whether or not it is illegal.
If you can't defend your position, then you need to do what I do, first get rid of your petty bias, dig into the subject and get up on current events and defend your position with FACTS, I'm not going to do it for you...

Luckily, their drug induced ignorance and stupidity are transparent to anyone who hasn’t already fallen victim. The more they talk, the more obvious it becomes. Thanks for keeping them talking. I know that’s an annoying task, especially when they keep drawing other drug addicts into the fray.
The school has the right to enforce the drug prohibition. A sweet young thang can be a pusher. The court will rule for the school.
While there may be a constitutional question as to whether such a strip search is ever allowable, this case should never have made it to the SCOTUS. How could any court think it is reasonable to strip search a student accused of possessing IBUPROFEN? This is Advil, for goodness sake, not heroin. There was NO threat to the safety of students, whatsoever. What next, cavity searches to look for crib notes?
Also, did the idiot school adminstrators not stop to think that if the child was carrying that “dangerous drug”, she would have given it up at the mere threat of a strip search. The strip search would have revealed any drugs, so why would she put herself through the trauma of a strip search, especially when the “drugs” were perfectly legal, and she would only face school discipline, not criminal charges.
Finally, isn’t there some more decent and discreet way to perform the equivalent of strip searches? Couldn’t the child be given a hospital gown and put in a private room to change into it? Her clothes and the room could then be searched for the dangerous, over the counter, pain relievers. Same level of security, no child molestation.
Sure they do, IF they have evidence of a crime, but to just "suspect" a student of a crime and then do a strip search... No, I'm willing to bet the Girl will win the case... whether its school or on the street you do not give up your due process and search and seizure Rights because you walk through a school door.
Maybe I should clarify; With a court actually following the CONSTITUTION, she would win. With today's left leaning courts which include judges trying use international case law... it could go either way.
It is my understanding there were wittnesses saying she had the pills.
We've had similar incidents in our state, although without the strip search. They had kids getting suspended for Aspirin, midol, etc.., when the school administration got out of hand, the parents stepped in and took action by replacing a few people and filing a few lawsuits... the School Administrators are now more reasonable and applying at least a small amount of common sense.
