This is a great sight to see but I do resent the upside-down flag I see off to the left.

"...On the down side, how many people raked obama over the coals for not putting his hand over his heart?"

Nothing personal, but those people who raked him over the coals were not running for the Presidency of the United States and the ostensible position of Leader of The Free World. That is a pretty clear difference. And you can bet those who did rake him over the coals likely knew the correct protocols.

More videos of the massive Olympia rally

I was with this group marching in with drums beating and us sing God Bless America.

Here are 3 counter protestors at 2 min into this next video. I saw these guys - and thought they just didn’t look like they fit in. After seeing this video, I am sure they were lefties from Evergreen State College.

Flying the flag upside down is a maritime distress signal. Our country is in distress, so it is not inappropriate.

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

I believe it's suitable given today's political atmosphere.

The Indianapolis Tea Party started with the Pledge of Allegiance, Prayer, YES Prayer, and singing the National Anthemn.

Here is what the organizer Richard Behney had to say afterwards:

"Although the local media would have us believe we only had around 2,000 attendees at the event (which would be correct if you were counting 2 hours before the event even started!), those trained in crowd control AND the IMPD [Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department] estimated our rally had somewhere between 12,000 - 15,000 Peaceful Patriots!!!! In fact, the Capital Police remarked that they were amazed at how well behaved our crowd was!! AND, what's more, our volunteers expected to spend a few hours after the event, picking up trash and cleaning the area, BUT, there was hardly ANY evidence that 15,000 people were just there!! We Patriots sure know how to party AND not make a mess!!! Indianapolis Tea Party

I do agree that this is the true meaning of the upside down flag and I do agree that our situation is dire, but the symbol of our flag upside down has been hijacked by so many ignorant anti-American groups to represent opposition to America and I do not want to be confused with that deranged mentality.

Something else you don’t see, uncovered faces, complete lack of teargas, unsmashed windows and no massive cost to the city due to damage and police overtime.

Yep, I agree. I was using the upside pic myself for a while until I found out anti-american groups did that. Now I'm not using the upside down image anymore just so that there is absolutely no question that I am PRO-american.

Yep, that's how Americans do it. We really do need to teach our males to remove their hats during the Banner, though. Older guys should know better, and they should be reminding the younger one. The Pledge of Allegiance would be good to do, too ("and to the republic to which it stands").

I agree, that is pretty much what I am referring to. Notice that the older people in the video pretty much had their hand over their heart, the younger people pretty much did not. I was taught at school from the first grade on (they didn’t have kindergarten back then) to stop what you were doing, face the flag and place your hand over your heart during the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance. When, and why did that stop?

Ah. I understand. I know exactly where it went.

Liberals indoctrinated people, starting in grade school that patriotism was bad.

Jingoistic, imperialistic and mindless.
