Time Magazine: 'Odd' That Gun Control 'Petered Out' After Columbine
NewsBusters.org ^ | 4/20/2009 | Matthew Balan

Michael Lindenberger of Time.com, in a April 20 article titled “Ten Years After Columbine, It’s Easier to Bear Arms,” found it “odd” that “whatever momentum the Columbine killings gave to gun control has long since petered out,” despite the “massacres perpetrated by deranged gunmen” in the following decade. He also quoted extensively from a young gun control advocate in the online article, without including any arguments from the opposing viewpoint.

Lindenberger first gave his reflection on the anniversary: “Monday April 20 marks 10 years since Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold permanently etched the words Columbine High School into this nation’s collective memory. What happened that day in 1999 also seemed to wake America up to the reality that it had become a nation of gun owners — and too often a nation of shooters. The carnage in Littleton, Colorado...seemed to usher in a new era of, well if not gun control, then at least gun awareness.”

The Time.com writer continued with a seeming lamentation: “In the decade since, massacres perpetrated by deranged gunmen have continued — including the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre in which Cho Seung-Hui killed 32 people and wounded many others. But something odd has occurred. Whatever momentum the Columbine killings gave to gun control has long since petered out.”

Dear times—

Why didn’t it grow? Because we fought back, and we won.
Rosie o’donnell lost it when she said all gun owners should be in prison. Second amendment sisters was born on FR to fight against mmm, and all supporters of the bill of rights rose to a common cause.

That’s why

The integrity and activism is akin to the tea parties..

Indeed.

I had several conversations with folk at our Baton Rouge event last week on this very subject. It went something like this: “Wonder how local tv (or the New Orleans Times-Picayune or the Baton Rouge Advocate) is gonna cover this?” My stock response was “We don’t need them any more. Look at all the video cameras we have.”

After about 1 1/2 seconds, they responded, “Ya know, that’s right! And we can have it up on YouTube even faster than they can put it on the 6pm news!”

HA!!
That's the kind of thing those of us who understand the full breadth, serious threat and dire predicament the Republic faces need to hear, and hear a lot more often. ;^)

BTW as long as we're connected here.
Would you mind too terribly much adding my name to the ping list for your threads covering the quisling media and their Harpies mediots?
It's time to jump back into the fray.
TIA.

And on a personal note, thank you for all you've done and do. :^)

Another irony is that the newer crops of killer teenagers was raised on liberal rags in the classrooms like "Time for Kids".

wiki - Time For Kids is a division magazine of Time that is especially published for children and is mainly distributed in classrooms. TFK contains some national news, a "Cartoon of the Week", and a variety of articles concerning popular culture. An annual issue concerning the environment is distributed near the end of the U.S. school term.

Thank you. I’ve been saying it for years, but was afraid to post it because I thought it might be inflammatory. It came from my deep, bitter frustration with the disparity of how the media covered each of those events.

Lindenberger is also not seeing that what’s happening in America today parallels the 1770-1775 timeline when our forefathers were arming themselves, organizing and preparing.

The man is not at all bright. He’s one of those people who will never see history’s lessons, extrapolate them and learn.

Since Columbine, teachers can legally carry in my state. How ‘odd’ is that? Citizens with ccw’s can carry on any public campus. How ‘odd’ is that? I didn’t read the article, but I’m sure they put in the good word...

Americans in general have cooled significantly to the idea of restricting gun rights. A poll released last week by CNN showed that support for stricter gun laws was at an all-time low, with just 39% of respondents in favor. Eight years ago that number was 54%.”

If CNN's bogus poll says 39% in favor of stricter gun laws, imagine how low the real number is!!
