ABC Touts Meghan McCain as Moderate GOP Voice on Gay Marriage
NewsBusters ^ | April 21, 2009 | Scott Whitlock

Posted on 04/21/2009 12:59:54 PM PDT by GoldStandard

"Good Morning America" on Tuesday highlighted a controversy involving gay marriage and a beauty contest and touted Meghan McCain as an example of a moderate Republican. Reporter David Wright referenced the daughter of Senator John McCain in a piece on the developing story over the Miss USA pageant and whether or not an answer on gay marriage caused the contestant from California to lose the title.

After asserting that gay rights are more mainstream these days, Wright reminded viewers of a decision by the Iowa Supreme Court legalizing same sex marriage. He spun, "And over the weekend, the daughter of the former Republican standard bearer, Meghan McCain, suggested she is all in favor of it." ABC then played a clip of Ms. McCain calling herself a Republican. Of course, just as MSNBC did in a story yesterday on McCain, Wright made no mention of the fact that the senator's daughter voted for John Kerry in 2004 and supported Al Gore in 2000.

When Bloomberg, Whitman, Specter, Snow, and Schwarzenegger, claim to be republicans, I guess anyone can.

GOP Voice? What office was she elected to? What position does she hold within the party? Lol!

Meghan can’t ~ maybe a “poptart” or something, but not a real Republican.

How does one become a “GOP voice”? Is there some kind of vetting process? Was Ms. McCain elected to the post? Doesn’t the GOP “brand” have any rights to chose its “voices”?

This is foreign to me (probably because I’m a foreigner).

The MSM is sure working hard to polish up their little pet turd, trying to make her sparkle.

Oh yeah, the moderate voice....Hey gay marriage has been on states ballots like 20 times. On each time it was on the losing end. What is moderate about an issue that can’t pass in 20 attempts?

America is hip to lamestream media’s wishful thinking.

GOP and big media are on opposite teams. That’s obvious.

When your enemy suddenly acts helpful, be very suspicious.

I believe the MSM has found a new McCain to stroke, and another useful tool with which to annoy the true GOP base

I would like to ask this CHILD (McCain) about polygamy. After all, it has more historical basis than same-sex marriage.

[shiver] I think the GOP dodged a bullet by not electing the McCain clan.

Things are bad under Obama, but they would have been terminal with McCain in the WH. He’s Obama in Repub clothing.

The MSM, including ABC, really “loved” her “maverick” father.

Until he won the GOP primaries.

Then, they chalked him up as a “useful idiot” and hitched a wagon to their real candidate.

She could use a history lesson.

The MSM is sure working hard to polish up their little pet turd, trying to make her sparkle.

They don't have to try that hard. Meghan and other dead pachyderm party luminaries are doing the heavy lifting for them. It's all a sideshow to detract from the disaster unfolding that is Obama. The MSM needs the GOP dead corpse animated. Meghan just happens to be the current puppet on their string, just like her daddy was 18 months ago.

That she has become a “voice” is surely an indication of the utter lack of conservative voices out there...and yet Rush is the de facto leader of the GOP if you believe the MSM.

What’s going on in this country just keeps getting weirder and weirder every day. Every frickin’ day.

There are a lot who want and are pushing for Meghan to be the face of the GOP, and not all of them are liberal Democrats..

We may HAVE to form a third party just to get rid of the RINOs, and keep the Left from defining us.
