EPA Analysis Projects Impact of Carbon Bill (Consumers electric rate to increase at least 22%)
wall street journal ^ | 4/21/2009 | STEPHEN POWER

A proposal in Congress to cut U.S. greenhouse-gas emissions by putting a price on carbon could raise prices for electricity by 22% and natural gas by 17% in 2030, according to a study by the Environmental Protection Agency.

But the impact on consumers would be modest, provided the government returns the bulk of the money raised by a carbon cap-and-trade system to households, the analysis showed.

If that happens, the analysis showed the average American household would pay an extra $98 to $140 a year -- 27 cents to 38 cents a day -- to cut greenhouse-gas emissions as proposed by the bill, which the House will begin debating in earnest Wednesday.

EPA should be tarred and feathered. This is asinine.

Insofar as it does this, the government will be instituting yet another tax transfer. You can bet that if you pay any reasonable amount of taxes, you'll be phased out of this "benefit."

But we should be grateful for our measly tax cut from the un-president.

I guess the "analysis" didn't figure just EXACTLY WHO was going to pay the added cost of cap and trade!!!!! I mean the evil greedy corporations wouldn't dare think of passing this added cost along to the consumer?!?!?!?!

I'm going over and over in my head and wondering why I continue to be a productive member of society..... I'd apply for welfare, but there are so many others with "seniority," if they did start reforming it, I'd be the first cut, you know since I hadn't made it a career yet.

It's just a round-about tax. The Government charges for fake carbon then sells the fake carbon and then the companies that got charged for the fake carbon has to pass the cost of the fake carbon to their consumer.

I’m thinking it’s going to be about that much more per month - not per year. In this region we have long, cold winters and fuel prices have already risen from last year.
But this was one of obama’s campaign promises, so no one should be surprised.

The keyword for that articles wording is “if”. The Government will not pass a single cent back to the public unless the Rats can get a vote for it. It's just another tax for the Obama Government.

When you realize that CO2 is the end product of respiration you realize that what this amounts to is a tax on the air we breathe. And these dipsticks wonder why tea parties are gaining in popularity. Global warming is Al Gore’s way of getting even with everybody over the 2000 election. Global Warming = Al Gore’s revenge.

I’m about a year out of school and living in a modest apartment in Crook County. Not in or near Chitcago either...at the edge of the county.

Last month my actual electricity use came to $9.90 (I work 12-18 hours a day; I’m literally at home to sleep).

In addition to that $9.90 in electricity use, I counted 10 (TEN!) separate fees/taxes, bringing my total bill to just over $25.

That pretty much encompasses Crook County, and the socialists’ vision for the country. For everything you do in life, they want to attach 150% overhead to send to every favored group and pet project they can think of, while making your life as difficult and expensive as possib.e

Right. It’s more money going from us to the gov’t. Sad thing is that we have the resources to provide inexpensive fuel. But obama and the rats are going to have us cold and sitting in the dark

Why are dems so anti-plant-life? They want all the plants and trees to die by reducing the CO2.
