Funny. They forgot to mention that the Ivy League's favorite President is trying to eliminate tax breaks for charitable giving and raise taxes on the very people who tend to donate to their alma mater.
Clear the roost, boys, the chickens are coming home in Ithaca, the City of Evil.

Cornells Department of Alumni Affairs and Development recently laid off 41 employees, around 10 percent of the departments workforce Alumni Affairs has 410+ employees? Can you say bloat?

If the math is right, the school’s Alumni Affairs and Development Dept had 400 employees? WTF?

Cornell has the reputation of having the most generous alumni of any major university. Interesting to hear about this. I stopped giving them anything many years ago.

If the math is right, the schools Alumni Affairs and Development Dept had 400 employees? WTF? Most of them are probably minimum wage students whose job it is to call alumni incessantly begging for money.

I adopted the same policy relative to my alma mater several decades ago when it became obvious that the liberals had taken over and turned a once venerable institution into an academic gulag. I’d rather see parents send their children to the state U than waste > 40K to have their children’s minds marinated in what passes for scholarship on campus these days.
I still get a fund raising email, letter, or phone call about once a week. Some people just cant take a hint.

Come back and talk to me in a month or two when I have a better understanding of my own financial situation.Intellectually gifted alumni of Cornell need a month or two to better understand their financial situation?

I got a call from one of those students years ago. I was tending to a sick infant, and I gave the startled co-ed a lesson in female anatomy she no doubt still remembers. ;)

I called the Development Dept head @ Cornell and demanded to be taken out of their system. They complied.

Ridiculous. Harvard, MIT and Wellesley blow Cornell away like a wheat husk!Well, Harvard's been around a whole lot longer. Don't know about the other two, just repeating what I've heard. Wish I could remember the source. But Cornell is rich, rich, rich, despite the current downturn.
