Obama's Danish Wind Power Deception
Finkelblog ^ | April 22, 2009 | Mark Finkelstein

Speaking in Iowa on “Earth Day” this afternoon, Pres. Obama lamented that only 3% of America’s electricity comes from renewable sources such as wind and solar. He held Denmark out as a model, mentioning that the Scandinavian country produces almost 20% of its electricity via wind. He also bragged about the new jobs being created in Iowa and elsewhere in the wind power industry.

Does PBO think we don’t read? Does he really expect to pull the windy wool over our eyes? Can he really expect the facts about the failure of the Danish wind power experiment not to be cited in reaction to his airy talk?

Here are some factoids about Danish wind power, taken from this and this article, that PBO doesn’t want Americans to hear about [emphasis added]:

Does he really expect to pull the windy wool over our eyes?

Is this a trick question?

A recent detailed analysis (focusing mainly on Spain) finds that for every job created by state-funded support of renewables, particularly wind energy, 2.2 jobs are lost. Each wind industry job created cost almost $2-million in subsidie...more help for the middle-class from Obama.....

Not realizing of course the size of the US compared to Denmark plus the population. I remember reading where it would take the state of Arizona covered in windmills (removing the entire population) just to power LA...

You nay-sayers are all like, just like you pooh-pooh Communism by pointing to failed examples!

The only thing this proves is, like Communism, the right people haven't made the correct attempts to properly impliment is in the right way, at the the right times and places, with the right populace!

Just give Obama a chance; leave Barack ALONE--don't taze the bro!

Oh, and mentioning woll and Obama in the sme sentence is RACIST!

Submission to Legislative Committee on Bill 150:

Michael Trebilcock, a renowned economist and friend of the environment, will be appearing at the Ontario legislature tonight {8 Apr 2009}, arguing against the Ontario government’s proposed Green Energy Act. For the many good reason he outlines, this green act is anything but green.

Denmark, the world’s most wind-intensive nation with more than 6,000 turbines generating 19% of its electricity, has yet to close a single fossil fuel plant. It requires 50% more coal-generated electricity to cover wind power’s unpredictability, pollution and carbon dioxide emissions have risen (by 36% in 2006 alone).

Danish experience is instructive. Its electricity generation costs are the highest in Europe (15 cents/kwh compared to Ontario’s current rate of about 6 cents).

A growing body of scientific and medical evidence suggests that the health effects on those subjected to long and frequent periods of pulsating, low-frequency noise associated with wind turbines include sleep disturbances leading to depression, chronic stress, migraines, nausea and dizziness, exhaustion and anger, memory loss and cognitive difficulties, cardiac arrhythmias, increased heart rate and blood pressure. Kamperman and James[11] list no fewer than 13 studies that show noise from wind turbines at night can disturb residents more than 2 km away.

I agree with the rest of your post, but this is...well...

What about regular city/traffic noise; trucks, trains, airports etc? I've never heard a sound out of the slow turning rotors.

I say this part is "rent a geek" propaganda. Just like their chopping up birds and the big lie of global warming.

pulsating, low-frequency noise

I've read this from several sources. On the other hand, I didn't experience it when I worked in California and spent a lot of time near by the older units working out there near Mojave.

Do you think we could get jobs creating facts for the RATS? I’ll bet it pays well.

The only thing I can think to do right now is to get those few good Repubs that we have seen standing up, and get them to delay as much as possible. Then try to get something new introduced...or even better, try to get them to go on FNC to present it. It will be impossible for the dems to stop that, and then the public will know.
