“Agreed, and the rest of VA, too.”
I fear you’re right. I want to believe McDonnell has a realistic chance to win the gubernatorial election this year, but I can’t help believing the election will be decided in the dem primary. The dems have their tentacles on VA and aren’t letting go.

It doesn't help that the VA Repub party is a total farce. They have not been effective since Gilmore was elected governor-and that was a decade ago! Their performance in the last 2 election cycles has been apalling. I know at least two fellows who regularly max out their contributions to the national R party but who won't give a dime to the state party because it is so poorly run. It's almost like they have a deathwish.
At least we got the Marriage amendment in '06. But I suspect that was the last gasp of the conservatives in VA. (Incidentally, it was also the time we got invited to anything in our affluent NoVA neighborhood. The pro-marriage yard sign pretty much did us in socially.)

Scott, you folks CANNOT let that happen! Dem party hack #1 might be what you ended up with if you did.
