Weekly Standard ^ | 4/23/09 | Stephen F. Hayes

Porter Goss, former CIA Director and past chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, blasted the Obama administration for releasing Justice Department memos on harsh interrogation techniques. “For the first time in my experience we’ve crossed the red line of properly protecting our national security in order to gain partisan political advantage,” Goss said in an interview.

There’s an election in ‘10. If the GOP regains control of the Congress the Marxists can be stopped. If not...encourage your children to learn Chinese.

2010? No ... the ballot box has been stolen as an option from the conservative side.

BTW ... harsh but interesting tagline.

Yes indeed. The cheap tatics by this administration will only be tolerated so long before he is eaten by his own.

"GOP, WHERE ARE YOU? THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING.

They're either trying to goad Obama into moving ahead with this, or they're just a bunch of spineless, unengaged pansies. I'm terrified it's the latter and not the former.

what on earth can he possibly expect to gain from his chosen path?

Read Saul Alinsky's "Handbook for radicals."

He wants the chaos.

As far as I am concerned this is the same as Philip Agee being in the White House.

It is not good to anger the CIA.

Well, no, not for the first time. Back in the days of the Carter Administration, Frank Church was effectively castrating ALL the intelligence agencies, by forbidding the use of “tainted” sources, like suspected “double agents” and persons of no fixed address. Well, DUH, nobody knew anything for years, except for the occasional defector. And only the Chinese knew anythibg for sure.

And we see how well Carter did at re-election time. :)

Are we getting into "high crimes and misdemeanors" territory yet? I think so. Jon Roland probably thinks so, also. http://www.constitution.org/cmt/high_crimes.htm

think many higher-ups will be joining the ‘release the birth certificate’ chorus

I really think this issue may gain traction with BO continuing to absolutely commit treason. I’m calling my reps today to ask about this.

This is probably why he won’t prosecute these guys (over the objections of his party whiners). The folks who do the real dirty work (not the analyst types) would just say, “F*** it! I’m going rogue. (And maybe I’ll take a peek at that Birth Certificate)” Obama doesn’t need that.

America cleaned up after Carter & Clinton and we certainly reaped what THEY sewed. :( We’re so screwed.

I've gone from being worried about our future to being frightened. Between the Taliban getting control of nuclear weapons in Pakistan and our forcing Israel to deal with Iran on their own, it looks to me like there's a lot scarier potential outcomes than we've ever had before.

Money quote:

“You can imagine what it would have looked like, if on a sensitive intelligence matter involving the CIA and this controversy, if we sent Karl Rove out to do this briefing. And that’s in effect what’s happened here,” says a high-ranking official from the Bush White House. “And I assume that’s because they saw it primarily as a political issue – because it’s being debated inside as a political issue –because it’s about appeasing the left, whose support they sought during the campaign. And Axelrod is more of an expert on that crowd that anybody else. It also says to me he was in all the meetings where they were debating this question – whether or not Obama had better go forward with some kind of investigation.”

Maybe so. Like veganism, environmentalism, and other modern -isms, I’m reminded that the goals some have are only possible because of the sociopolitical framework they despise so much. BHO never could have been a “community organizer” if he actually had to get his hands dirty to find dinner.
