CDC says too late to contain U.S. flu outbreak

WASHINGTON, April 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday it was too late to contain the swine flu outbreak in the United States.

CDC acting director Dr. Richard Besser told reporters in a telephone briefing it was likely too late to try to contain the outbreak, by vaccinating, treating or isolating people.

"There are things that we see that suggest that containment is not very likely," he said.

He said the U.S. cases and Mexican cases are likely the same virus. "So far the genetic elements that we have looked at are the same." But Besser said it was unclear why the virus was causing so many deaths in deaths in Mexico and such mild disease in the United States.

I agree with your supplement recommendations - I would add Colostrum to Curcumin (Turmeric) and elderberry, plus high doses of Vitamins C, D, E and even B. Shotgun it - what’s to lose but a little money?

Okay, here is what my inside cdc source says;

Has never seen such an alarmist set of memos as today/this is a new cdc director having replaced that woman Gerberding and people suspect he is naive and overreacting.

CDC has 24 hour coverage now, seeking volunteers for teams, team in Mexico city says it is eerie with everything closed.

Flu is not that bad, people in Mexico die from flue due to poor conditions.

Odd virus.

THat is what I hear. The new director thing is apparently raising questions about how he is handling this.

Who knows,,people ate CDC are puzzled at the tone of the memos.

But flu epidemics happen. THis does strike me as an odd virus but I am not a virologist.

I do not believe the comments that the cdc is clueless,,the cdc is a good organization.

I suspect closing borders is moot now. ANd this looks like a mild virus,,a flu yes but not like 1918 where people woke up healthy and died 10 hours later. Like my grandfather. People are not dropping like flies with this at this point.

1) Any other threads here, or sites elsewhere (e.g. avianflutalk.com)?

2) What else besides curcumin (will pick more up tomorrow, otherwise we're good for food at home for several months, just need more water).

Prayers up.

My 11 year old girl just tonight said, again :(

“We’re all going to die anyway ‘cuz Obama is gonna get us all bombed.” (I was talking about the new Health Care “realignment” or whatever that is going to get shoved down our throats in the next few days.

I know better that to bring my fears of a pandemic into things!

I’ve understood that Maritime Pine Bark Extract is the most powerful form of reservatrol available.

As far as curcuminoids, a sublingual, liquid form gets past the loss of bioavailability due to destruction in the digestive tract.

You know what I think on thinking about this?

The entire country has breaths held/ we are all waiting for something terrible. There is immense anxiety both caused by Obama and generated by Obama.

There is almost static in the air. We are afraid, just waiting.

This man is not reassuring/quite the opposite. And everything assumes ominous happenings.

During the Avian Flu scare of a few years ago - much was said about flu vaccines taken many years ago offering no protection. Yet blood studies at that time showed just the opposite... Older people who had had the actual flu or a vaccine still showed anti-bodies to various strains of the flu...

However, this does not mean that a person who took the Swine Flu vaccine in 1976 will be spared from this new set of flu strains - but it could well mean a person would under go a milder reaction to the new infection while others without such a vaccination could fare much worse...

With influenza a little immunity could go a long way in survival. It could mean the difference between a three day fever, cough, runny nose, versus having severe bronchitis and/or pneumonia setting in on a debilitated very sick patient.

Offering flu vaccines early is good sense (if they are available)

Curtis at WABC radio has been checking in with his Guardian Angel leader in Mexico City. He and daughter have masks of course and earlier he reported folks were packed trying to get out of the city.

I wonder where they’ll end up?

And I will comment, if no one else has, that the dust masks you see in the photos aren't doing any good to the person wearing them -- virus particles are mush too small to be stopped by cloth filter media. However, if the person wearing the mask is already infected, the mask can stop gobs of sputum from infecting others.

For proper mask protection you need N95 masks or cartridge respirators. I believe I also have some P100 cartridges along with organic cartridges for other purposes.
