Our transport system is based on long haul trucking, not trains like Europe’s is.

High gas prices don’t only hurt us personally at the pump, they impact EVERYTHING we buy, esp. groceries.

If the price of gas skyrockets again while wages stay flat, this recession will extend for a lot longer.

I'd say more like medium haul trucking... ever look at a freight train. I live near a big track in GA and it hauls everything. Go to one of their websites and see what's carried. I don't think there are a lot of common place long hauls by truck say from east coast to west...

Regardless of the level of dependence on trucks/fuel and prices, to artificially skyrocket the price of gas to a par with Europe is insane, even if these creeps ever actually spent the inflated difference on alternative energies (they can't and won't). This is politicism and CONTROL, pure and simple - control our lives, control our living, and control our FREEDOM. Bow down to the masters for they are omnipotent.
