Where did you come up with the idea that one makes the other okay?
I pointed out that public schools are probably worse than Catholic schools for abuse rate, and this makes Dr. Laura’s non-endorsement of the Catholic school option irrational.
Like I said earlier, if you STILL don’t get my point, then I can’ help you... but you & Ms. wannabe, have a good day! LOL
We got your point. You don’t like Laura. Neither do I. But I don’t think you realize, even with your restatement, you are still presenting your point improperly.
not a matter of “liking” her...I don’t waste my time
“listening” to those who are not trained and/or educated in what they pass themselves off as being an authority ...bottom line, I don’t take personal advice from bartenders, auto repairmen, grocery clerks or talk radio clowns. LMAO
How does sexual abuse in the public school make a long time proponent of home schooling and private schools irrational? You do realize that is what she has advocated for decades, right? She has dropped her endorsement of catholic schools, but that hardly means that she will suddenly reverse her decades long support for home schooling to support the socialist publik skrools.
She isn't right on a lot of issues, but your ill formed claim that she public schools is laughable.
She is the most ignorant and rude person on radio. People who listen to her must have serious dependency and esteem problems...either that or they are deeply into humiliation and S&M.
Laura is useless to most and destructive to the weak.
Could you point to where the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners says this? Colleges and universities bestow the title of doctor”, not the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
According to what you’ve posted, Dentists, who are not a “medical doctor or ... a professor in the psychological field with a clinical license.” wouldn’t be doctors. That simply is not correct. Nor would lawyers, who are also Doctors.
I have a family full of PhDs, all of whom are referred to as “Doctor” in their professional life, some of whom use it personally (on their checks or formal invitations, for example). They’ve earned it every bit as much as any medical doctor.
As to Dr Laura’s comments: Catholic Schools aren’t magic places where children are better off than public school “just because”. It depends on a number of factors as to whether the school is better or not. God didn’t give us children to raise so that we could turn them over to any school, Catholic or not, without supervision and our direct, constant interaction.
The Church spent a very long time doing all of the wrong things in regard to childhood sexual abuse, and IMO, they still a ways to do before they get it 100% right.
If the reputations of Catholic schools now have to live with the consequences of bad decisions and worse, that’s part of the penalty for doing wrong.
I’m a devout Roman Catholic. I do not make excuses for the past mistakes and lies of some sick people in the hierarchy of the Church in the same way that I don’t make excuses for sin anywhere else.
The Church is better than that. It’s strong enough to withstand getting rid of every last rotten apple in the bunch.

already posted a reponse to this twice...I’m done repeating myself....
gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
You’re trying too hard for an argument. Dr. Laura seems to assume that the Catholic option is more susceptible to abuse than other options. I don’t see the evidence to support that.
If homeschooling is safer, great. And if Dr. Laura expressed that when non-endorsing the Catholic option, then I’m wrong.
You are the one who still doesn’t get it. A PhD IS A DOCTOR! Even MDs call PhDs by the title of Dr. When you are wrong, you’re wrong.
She earned a legitimate doctorate (better than the Psy.D. degrees that the large majority of Psychologists are paying for these days), but to call her “Dr. Laura” in the context of mental health/psychological issues is unethical.
IIRC, she used to make that distinction (e.g., “I am not a psychologist”). Her show has been off the air in my area for several years, so I don’t know how she deals with the issue.
I used to be a big fan, but her stridency got annoying at times. In retrospect, there is not much to disagree with her about - It’s more her style.
umm no. She thinks it isn’t as good as her option. She never said her option was the public school. Other parties including you personally gratuitously inserted that.
I pointed out her decades long association with homeschooling and you are trying to pretend it isn’t there like Bill Clinton trying to see around that blue, stained dress.
You don’t get to make your own facts up Beelzebubba, nor do you get to make facts that are there go away. I can sit here and point that out just as long as you continue to try doing it though.
I was unaware of her advocacy of homeschooling, and that might color my views. however, singling out Catholics schools as a problem with abuse is excluding other relevant options. Perhaps Dr. Laura has condemned public schools for abuse, but I haven’t seen that.
Sit up higher as my point to you sailed over your head.

Wow, rb...your enlightening post sounds like it could’ve come right off of an idiotic democrat blog site...complete with name calling and personal attacks on the subject as well as any who listen to her.
I feel much more enlightened after reading your post! Now, why don’t you go ahead and back up some of your screed with some specific examples?
