I don’t see how Arlen Specter’s defection is bad news for the Republicans. Specter didn’t vote with the Reps anyway, so does it really matter?

In a way, yes. If the Senate were 51/49 in favor of the Repubs it would mean that the Repubs get the committee chairmanships, and pretty much control of the agenda. Only in that respect is Spectre important.

Spectre: Special Executive for Crime Terror Revenge and Extortion.

It only matters in the sense that the media and the DNC will snowball the story into a GOP-bleed story.

Specter was a pretty worthless republican but now he made himself Obama’s stooge. I'm sure Obama’s promise to campaign for Specter comes with many strings attached. Specter is admitting that he will do anything to remain in office. We need to rid our entire government of scumbags like specter.

Only in a good way. The RNC won't be wasting any more money on keeping Snarlin' Arlen in office, and voting against the conservatives.

Yes, he’s been a rino for some time. Now he can hope to join Franken for their 60 senate seat filibuster proof dem majority. Something the dems have been hoping and working toward for some time.

Well, if Al Franken gets seated (and he probably will), there will be 60 ‘Rats in the Senate. Unlimited power for Obama, Reid, and Pelosi.

Ever hear of "card check," also known euphemistically as "The Employee Free Choice Act?"
Know it is NOT the law of the land at this moment?

Ya might want to read up...
