WASHINGTON -- In the hours leading up to the Senate's confirmation Tuesday of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as secretary of health and human services, the president's final Cabinet pick had a passive but potent opponent: fellow governor Sarah Palin.
The Republican Alaska governor didn't outright oppose Sebelius, a Democrat whose duties will include overhauling the country's health-care system and overseeing the response to swine flu.

Sebelius was confirmed, but now all the blogs are talking about how awful it was that she was almost filibustered and held up during a health crisis...how does that help us?

Really? Well I just don’t see why it is a big surprise that a pro-choice Dem would nominate a pro-choice health secretary...did some really believe that Obama would put a pro-life person in this job? I think abortion is lost in terms of the government...we must work to change the minds and hearts of women...no politician will ever fix this.

A rational President would select someone for HHS Secretary whose medical expertise extended to something a bit beyond chopping babies into parts.
