You state a great point about the age appropriateness. There’s no need to teach 5 yr olds about sex. Other than mommy is pregnant with a baby, made by love between mommy and daddy and God. Anything else just goes right over their head anyway.

Kindergarteners don’t need to know about any sex, and that includes homo sex. 3rd graders don’t need to know either.

As they get older, yeah maybe but I don’t think it’s the school’s responsibility. It’s the parents’. Now, our Catholic k-8 teaches sex ed in 5th grade. I’m ok with it. I learned about it in religion class too back, way way back, when I was in 7th grade, Catholic school, in Religion class. But it’s not their responsibility either, imo, outside what the Church teaches. I’m candid with my kids. They ask, I answer.

It was probably around 4th or 5th grade when my kids asked about homosexuality. More so with the two younger ones since they’re exposed to more than the two older ones were. Anyway, it’s up to parents imo. Parents generally know best.

I agree with you. Little kids don’t need this bs. I think the school shouldn’t decide when to teach about sex, gay or regular. I know way back when I had sex ed classes we just laughed quite a bit & made the teacher uncomfortable. That was in high school & most kids were well aware of sex by then. I do remember some stupid movie in 6th grade about periods. It was really dumb & we didn’t want to see it. The boys made fun of the girls for awhile, they knew what it was all about. I don’t like the idea of anyone telling Sassy about sex but her father or me. He is more or less going to let me handle it.
