Elizabeth Edwards writes about husband's affair in book, 'Resilience'

After the former presidential hopeful confessed his betrayal, Elizabeth Edwards writes in her new book, "I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up."

Elizabeth, 59, who is terminally ill with cancer, speaks about her husband's infidelity in her new memoir, "Resilience,".

Despite feeling deeply deceived, Elizabeth Edwards nonetheless publicly stood by her husband's side, lending his candidacy the aura of a warm, loving family life.

But she had actually wanted him to quit the race to protect the family. Edwards admitted the hanky-panky to her days after declaring his candidacy in 2006 - almost a year before the National Enquirer reported it.

She was afraid of the destructive questions Edwards' affair with videographer Rielle Hunter would raise.

"He should not have run," she says.

Hunter initially seduced Edwards using a worn come-on line, Elizabeth writes:

"You are so hot," Hunter told him outside a swank New York hotel. The campaign ultimately paid Hunter $114,000 to produce a batch of short films on his candidacy.

She lashes out at Hunter, now 45, whose name she never actually uses in the book, as a parasitic groupie who invaded the Edwardses' life.

Her own life may be tragic, she concludes, but Hunter's is "pathetic."

Even when Edwards confessed to his wife, he lied, claiming he had slipped up just once, Elizabeth writes. His original version of the story "left most of the truth out," she writes.

While Elizabeth still hasn't fully come to terms with her man's roaming, the memoir is laced with a powerful dose of forgiveness.

"I lie in bed, circles under my eyes, my sparse hair sticking in too many directions, and he looks at me as if I am the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. It matters," she writes.

If you can fake sincerity you can do anything. He got way too close to the White House.

If there was any justice in the world she would have called the book “HALF”. She should have found a good lawyer and take johnny to the cleaners.

Never forget, boys and girls, the real reason that Edwards became a pariah over this is because he hung on in the primaries long enough to sink Hillary’s ambitions when he knew he had this scandal hanging over his head and could never have hoped to keep a lid on it through the general.

That is why the dems repudiated and denounced him and why he will never get near elective office again. Had it not been for this, the wagons would have been circled around him and the MSM would have pooh-poohed his infidelity. That’s not even considered a sin anymore amongst the beautiful people (re: Gavin Newsom).

The fact that he had so conspicuously advertised himself as the perfect husband and father also added a little edge to the revelation of his philandering.

That said, I would rather have an ordinary sleazeball like him in the Oval Office rather than the Manchurian Candidate.

From whom did she hear that? Her husband, who's since been caught in more lies? I guess the truth is hard to bear, so she wants to believe her husband was seduced and rendered powerless by Hunter's alleged come-on.

I wish I hadn't read this self-serving nonsense. It's dumb. And unbelievable.

Maybe Eddie will find another woman to bed with as soon as his wife is out of the way. The she’ll be the most beautiful woman. And the next...and the next...

Wait a minute now. She wanted him to quit the race? That’s not what we heard when they called that news conference to announce Elizabeth’s cancer had returned. As I recall, he said she did not want him to quit so he was doing what she wanted him to do. At the time I thought regardless of what the wife says, she’s sick and he should quit. She didn’t need the added stress of a campaign when she’s fighting cancer.

"the memoir is laced with a powerful dose of forgiveness"

So he's a detestable scoundrel, and she's a pathetic appeaser addicted to her multi-million-dollar lifestyle.

I believe that Mrs. Vitter forgave her cheating husband too. I don't know what it is with these guy with power. Hopefully the folks in Louisiana will get rid of this cheater in 2010.

wow.

I know it’s late. So maybe I’m mixed up. Someone please correct me if it’s the case.

So if I read this right, this schmuck (whose wife already has terminal cancer) had to endure being told that her husband had been screwing around on her...and then his next bright ideas is: “But hey, honey ‘bout supporting me publicly run for president?”
