Personally,
I think the RNC and congressmen should stay out of primary politics...and not be allowed to share their campaign funds with each other.
I wrote this comment on the rats on another thread:
“They move to the right on gun control and abortion with their candidates for the Senate and the House for the 2006 and 2008 elections.
“Now, they get Snarlin’ Arlen to defect because the GOP is too beholden to social conservatives, and they are demonizing veterans and all kinds of conservatives in Dept. of Homeland Security documents.”
Casey beat Santorum in PA in 2006 with this strategy of appealing to social conservatives. What the heck is Cornyn thinking? Does he have crap for a brain?
They oughta just draw straws and stand with the winner.
Why beat each other up before they have to face Specter or whoever in the general? Let Specter and the other dems have the foodfight.
I guess that doesn’t surprise me. I’m in Gerlach’s district. He has been steadily moving to left in each election since he was first elected 6-8 years ago. He’s always been against ANWR, even when we had $4.00 gas prices. He was against the bailout, until somebody must have bribed him, then he voted for it. He has no core beliefs, he’ll be for whatever will get him elected. He is not a dynamic campaigner. I would imagine he’ll stay in the wishy-washy center in a matchup vs. Specter, and he’ll get killed.
Toomey has a much greater name recognition throughout the state than Gerlach. Plus, if it’s question of wishy-washy moderate Specter vs. wishy-washy moderate, unknown Gerlach, Specter wins easily. The only way to beat Specter is to give the voters a real choice, which would be Toomey. Pat Toomey should give some serious thought to running as an independent, or organizing an entirely new, conservative party. Screw the GOP, it’s time to kick those jerks to the curb!
Do we have a conservative ready to run for the Hutchison seat probably next year? I understand the Democrat John Sharp is the early favorite.
What the hell is that? Half a Republican!
We really should try to get Jerry Patterson to run--but I think that's easier said than done.
I also predict that within 4 years, Texas will be a blue state. That thought breaks my heart!
Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams is waiting in the wings.
WTH has Cornyn been smoking? High dollar crack?
He has already gone over to the dark side, I guess. So much
for him being an “outsider”!
“Centrist”=Zero suckup!
Toomey, Cornyn bump!
translation, the GOP rebranding (loser) committee is afraid of conservatives winning so they are vote splitting conservatives.
FOLKS THIS IS THE TIME TO TAKE OVER YOUR LOCAL GOP CLUB/PARTY.
control the local, and the national will have have the ability to foist “moderate” carpet baggers.
********* ********* Rumors are swirling that the NRSC is trying to find someone to challenge Toomey. If true, this is an absolutely horrible idea that will tick off large parts of the base and decrease money and energy to the NRSC and RNC, damage whoever wins the PA primary, and cause the winner to have less cash to spend against the Dem. Plus, Toomey is exactly the kind of Republican that will do well in '10: He's an authentic conservative with a track record of being against higher spending. He's symbolic of everything people are screaming for and if the NRSC goes against him it will send a message that the Republicans in Congress are COMPLETELY out of touch. You must be a friend of John Cornyn on facebook to view this link.Even if Toomey doesn't poll as well as someone else, the net effect of not supporting him will be VERY negative.

Not true.
I hope he’s being honest about this. Who knows what to believe
anymore....the rumors just swirl like a tornado!

Not sure what’s goin’ on here.
Cornyn can usually get me all fired up and enthused.
I’m not up to speed on this, but sounds like the GOP
is all lined up to shoot ourselves in foot in this race??
It would make 4. Larry Murphy who ran against Spec in 1998 is also running.

Uh....
In any case Gerlach is by far the least conservative. Unless people think he’s more “electable” I expect freepers to go with one of the others.
I'm not either. That's why I asked what he was smoking. I feel this is another DBM hit piece on Cornyn on page A-1, with a "correction" on page A-10 that no one will ever see.
